Cannot view requests via Facebook on Samsung Galaxy S6 Android 5.1.1

I am playing Hay Day on a Samsung Galaxy S6 using Android 5.1.1. I have connected my Facebook and Google Play accounts. However, when I receive a friend request via Facebook I am unable to view or accept. When I select the request in my Facebook notifications, I am redirected to Google Play Store's Hay Day page with the options to uninstall or open the app. If I open the app, nothing related to the request shows up. The friend I am trying to connect with is also using a Galaxy S6 on Android 5.1.1 and encounters the exact same problem. I contacted Supercell support via the app and they were of no help. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this problem?
