GoHo(Golems and Hogs) is probably the only decent 3-star strategy out there currently for TH8, that I know of anyways. But before using such a strategy, I suggest maxing your golems and hogs out.Quote:

While you are warring with L3 drags and such, the next troop to max is probably hogs. L4 hogs, at TH8, is probably the best overall war troop. Then, you'll also want to upgrade your Dark Barrack to unlock Golem. You don't need them to be L2 to execute a GoHo on max TH8s, but, of course, it helps. Note that if/when you move to GoHo attacks, you'll also want L5 wizards, but, for straight hog runs, L4 are just fine.

I will wager that you are used to 3 starring TH7's on a regular basis with dragons, amirite? At TH8, you're going to find there are huge differences between an early TH8 (that's you now), and a mid-TH8. Then you'll find maxed TH8's outclass all other TH8's. Those L2 dragons are going to loose their luster pretty quick.
Then you'll need to upgrade your dragons to L3 first thing... followed by your balloons to L5....and your CC to L4. Mass dragons will get you by for a little while longer...but they get trickier to deploy successfully.
Adding balloons to the dragons, DragLoon will then take you most of the way to mid-TH8, using either 10 dragons +5 max balloons in the CC, or 8 dragons, 8 L5 balloons and 5 max balloons. Executed correctly, these should keep the 3 stars rolling for a while longer.
During that time, upgrade your farm troops, your hogs, and your BK. When your hogs are L3, and your DragLoon starts to be more 2 star than 3, then combine 4 Dragons with 24 Hogs +5 Hogs in the CC, and learn to Hog. Executing this correctly will keep more 3 stars coming in. Learn to solo hog (well, actually, hogs supported by a CC kill squad).
Then upgrade your hogs to L4, and unlock valkyries, golems, and PEKKAs. Use your L4 hogs to hog like a beast.
Then you'll have your PEKKAs, valks, and golems unlocked. Upgrade your wizards to L5.Learn to GoWiPe, and/or GoViz. Yes, GoWiPe has a rather earned reputation as a 2 star method. However these methods teach you how to create proper funnels, how to use tanking troops, and how to establish rhythm in golem strategies. Learn to add hogs/loons to the end of the GoWiPe for a serious 3 star strategy.
Why would you need GoWiPe knowledge? Aren't hogs enough? Yes and no. When you approach the end of your TH8 experience (maxing out), you will find that some bases in war require an attack with a little more punch...that is where the GoHo comes in. This is a hybrid between the TH9 GoWiWi attack combined with Hogs - a method used by many TH9 players. Can't use this hybrid well if you don't know anything about how the GoWiXx part of the attack works. You may even see the need to upgrade your golems, if you prefer the extra tanking power.
Notice the progression - TH8 means you no longer get to use "fire and forget" mass dragons and get 3 stars all the time - because even mass dragons gets technical here. Learn to piece your armies together to fit the base you're attacking. Hogging is not like dragons - learn to scout bases well. Learn to lead your troops on spell deployment. Learn to Lure/CC kill well. Learn to funnel. Learn to funnel and tank.
Want to be a successful TH9 some day? Learning all this makes that happen.
Dragons, DragLoon, Dragons+Hogs, Hogs, GoWiPe, and GoHo should chart your course for the next several months. All are great methods. Use each in their due time.

keep it simple. i have 3 accounts and yet whenever i see a member ask "how do i 3 star this base" i chuckle a bit inside. its not rocket science. All you require is a bit of funneling knowledge and common sense(don't attack into a sweeper) and you can 3 star any th8( can someone please provide a replay of a failed attack using the following army by an EXPERIENCED player) all you need is lv 5 lightning x2 lv 3 drags x10 lv 4+ rage spell x 1. cc (5 max loons) oh and 1 earthquake spell. now i know that reads sloppy so ill say it again
200 army space (lv 3 dragons only)
2 lightning spells (must be lv 5)
1 rage ( should at least be lv 4 from your adventures at th7)
1 earthquake spell
20/25 cc space (max loons only)
if you're missing any of the components(as i am on my current th8 account) then you will not be able to 3 star max th8s. but will still be able to 3 star poorly designed or underdeveloped th8s. it requires a basic understanding of dragloon (which you should have had plently practice at th7) and a basic understanding of dragloon in general as well as funneling. the eathquake spell will serve as your 3rd lightning spell. you're welcome

lol its a new th8 account i have a total of 3. i wont even have level 3 drags on this account for about a day. to which i move on to the lightning spell. earthquake is finishing about 12 hours before lv 3 drags finish. i know i was 3 starring max th8s long before the earthquake came along with 95+% success as it was a broken attack for anyone who understood dragloon mechanics. earthquake just makes it super op because you don't have to choose between 3 rages or 3 lightning. because you essentially bring 3 lightning( 2+1 earthquake) and a rage
peoples main problem back in the day was not being able to decipher weather to bring 3 lightning or 3 rage. it was all base dependant and people either got stuck on one or the other not realizing that it depended on the base which spell you took. but if they all had the option they wouldve gladly taken 3 lightnings and 1 rage. wouldn't you agree?
