I just need your thoughts guys!!
It used to be popular for us 2 or so years ago, but it's not dying now. I think it's growing!
Why do you ask?
If it was dead, would the forms still be here?
No ...........
It's alive, but this update taking its time is making it stagnate at the moment. They need to do more advertising and try to draw new blood...
Clash of Clans is not dying, its just that some clashers are n bless there souls for leaving us dead bases teehee =)
I do think people are burning out.
Literal answer: It was never alive in the first place.
Metaphorical answer: No, because lots of people still play every day.
Hard to say right now... Let the th11 come first. Lots depend on th11. If it's just another glorious upgrade grind without adding something very new to the game play, coc will be in trouble. When I say something new, I didn't mean just a new troop/defence. It needs something game changing content, like clan war. Otherwise I don't see myself playing it for another 2 years.
It's probably just only on hiatus.
COC will be back after the great update!
It's growing like crazy. Clash Youtubers are gaining subscribers exponentially, along with the forums gaining a crazy amount of users.Yeah, it's dropped down in the play store, but there's more of dedicated players than just a high quantity. Heck, I even heard of a clan wars clan that's being sponsored by a company to put their info in the clan description box and paying the clan money in return. (No I do not remember the clan name, sorry) :(
Honestly I do think coc has passed its prime and climax, but it's not dying anytime soon
Nope, it's actually on the rise, especially with the new update coming out
Nope.........
Joined in Feb. Been playing ever since! Favorite unit: Witches

No, it was and is a top app since like 2012.
You're back clashcon! I missed you =)
Yeah it is SC needs to stop being an emotional lesbian.
It seems like every once in a while someone creates a thread asking this question. In my opinion it's not dying. I wouldn't call the second top grossing game a dying game. Just because it may not be top grossing anymore dosen't mean it's dying. Probaly only supercell knows the truth for sure as they are the probaly the only ones with the statistics of how many active player or how many players in total and all that.
Everything is dying, coc has a limited lifespan, eventually it will die. I think things that could hasten that death is:
People who use mods to help in war. This could get out of hand and destroy the game. Clan wars is the reason this game is a strong as it is.
Screwing up th11. If they don't implement it right, this could end up ruining the game.
Continuing to completely ignore and keep their paying customers in the dark. They need someone to start talking to us more and do some good PR. No reason a billion dollar company can't focus a little on showing appreciation and respect to the people who built their empire.
This is the question in class where everyone gives an answer then the teacher says, "you're all wrong." Correct answer is, not enough data.
Of course not. just look at the members in forum that active. and many people in my country now play it.
I wouldn't admit to breaking TOS in your sig ^^
If you look backwards in the forums you will see these threads have been going on since the game started. And no, it has not died it is the No 1 top grossing app ever on the App Store. The game is still growing. Just go to global and look at all the new players making new clans. Revenues will keep expanding and a new player base will keep pouring in for a long time. The better question is whether the game is dying for specific players. I am almost max TH10. LVL 40/40 heroes and have been leader of my clan for over 2 years. During that time we have seen lots of people quit but we have kept our core and new people always join.
What I see now that is different is upper LVL people are just bored. They still log on and donate but most opt out of war, they don't raid and our chat has been really quiet for the last few weeks. Most significantly for the game, I don't think anyone in our clan has bought gems in a couple of months and we have some heavy gemmers. I think at the top people are getting frustrated and feeling like this game is a never ending cycle that has lost its fun factor. We will see what the next update brings but I feel like I'm losing a lot of my guys to plain boredom. I am sure the game will continue to go strong as new people download it each day. I assume the noobs will spend money and if they do the game will continue. However, I don't know how much longer the old timers will stick around.
I am certain that If if a good new game came out right now my guys would rush to try it out. They try them all out as do I. However, so far none of the new games have been better than Clash. But one day that will change. Personally, I hope the update lives up to the hype because I still love this game. But, something needs to happen soon or the older players (who happen to be the ones who have spent the most money) will find another game and leave this one behind.
When that happens it will die for us, but as long as the new guys spend money it will most certainly continue on.
No but it's starting to. Everyday without sneak peeks is $1 less I'll be spending for th11 were already at $80 started at $100
I'm certainly less enthusiastic about the game as i was 2 years ago. With or without th11.
Certainly for me at least it's losing its appeal.
Don't know if that means it's dying for me or not?
Clash of clans dying?
I see troops dying.
On a side note. Which troops have died the most? Barbarians and Archers. Millions die every second. Millions are reborn every second.
Damn these barbarians are phoenix but without wings.
Yes yes... I'm sure the loss of your $100 will bankrupt SC lol.
Some players will stop buying gems and another 10 will start, that's the way its been for some time :)
They aint a multi billion $$ company for nothing..
Even when they release sneak peeks and subsequent update, I'll bet your $100 ten times over that there will be loads of people claiming the update is ♥♥♥♥ and the game wont survive, it's been happening every update since I can remember.
Still the game powers on.....
Death is nothing, but to live defeated and inglorious is to die daily.
I think this is a pivotal point in clash. The updates are coming out slower and a lot of people are becoming ungrateful of what they get. If this update is a big one they need to release it with massive content and make sure it runs well. If they don't it could cost a good chunk of revenue. That being said I think that's why we haven't had sneak peeks yet. They are making sure the update is quality.
Chess captivated our collective imagination for thousands of years. I don't have the data for this, but CoC likely has more players now than the total number of active chess players in history (don't flame me this is a guess).
Is CoC dying? I'm definitely not saying it will rival chess in terms of historical longevity. But I am guessing it has the momentum to go a few more years with proper stewardship on the part of SC. The strategic complexity and balance, from battle to base upgrading, remains unrivaled in modern gaming.
Just to be clear-I'm not saying CoC is a better game than chess. The complex balance achieved in chess should be the envy and goal of every CoC developer.

Rodm70 is spot on, I've seen the same. At the top end, and I'm refering to long time players with maxed or near max bases that have retired in my core group is significant. It's been sad for me as I farmed hard with many of them, then war came out and the enthusiasm was brilliant. I considered many of them great friends as we chatted every day and you feel you know them well. But sadly now I've seen many of the most active players retire.
Unfortunately im not talking 4 or 5 players, but over the 6 clans im part of the numbers are well over 50 and it wouldn't surprise me if it was closer to 100.
I mean it lost it's longstanding top grossing app on the app store spot for a while now. I guess 2nd place isn't a bad place to be in either.
It's not dying yet. But it's in the process to start dying.
I have seen many clan mates stop playing in the last 2 or 3 weeks. If that is any indication, yes it is dying.
yes, i agree, they keep trial and error. like "walls" thing, previously we can upgrade walls with both gold and elixir, then i don't really understand whats happened, they changed only walls 8 above can use both gold and elixir.
I personally do not like this 'trial and error' thing. I feel bored with game upgrading. it makes less interesting.
Clash dying? LOL, not even started it.
More people play this game than ever before. Millions are interested in it. The first ClashCon just happened. An awesome big update is just around the corner. There are many years ahead of Clash, and it's getting better and better, and more popular year after year.
I wouldn't say that Clash is dying and I'm still enjoying it a lot. But apart from myself just look on YouTube or twitch and look how many players (even new players) post content. After the update we'll see a lot of people coming back to the game (my guess). In my opinion clash will carry on for at least 5 years. There are many multiplayer games that are still going after a lot more years
It's the destiny of life to die.
Cannot agree more. So many people have their game on hold waiting to see what's coming in the update to balance TH11 being just another level involving hours of nexting followed by weeks of build times.
Only S.cell know if the game is losing numbers, but it sure isn't cool anymore. It has disappeared from real life chat after being a hot subject for long long time.
This update is becoming a bit of a mockery, like the King's new clothes.
When you a feel a certain way, it's only human to assume others feel the same way too. Evidence points otherwise.
Only Supercell's accountants can tell you for sure.
From my point of view, it's certainly past its peak. This is obvious when you consider the recent saturation of advertising; the more you pay to advertise, the more concerned you are about a user base - good games in their growth stage don't require massive advertising.
Their ace-in-the-hole cashcow card (TH11) is finally being played and I'm sure their profits will jump. But if they continue to not address the major flaws in the game it will eventually decline again.
Not allowing heroes in war has caused me to play much less often and almost quit. War is the only fun part of the game and you need good heroes to get the full experience at th9. I know supercell loves getting money from people gemming heroes but I wonder how many players they lose do to it.
I feel the game is dying yes:
too many nerfs to 3* strategies. The addition of two air sweepers and the increase in building hit points causes hogs to have to take down defences slower while they are being shot at, laloon can fail due to air sweeper placement. Skeleton traps can be a nightmare to deal with and can decimate a hog or laloon raid that otherwise would have wrecked a base. The new jump spell troop AI has made it difficult to get your high dps troops into the core, forcing you at times to bring an EQ and losing a spell slot. The new queen agro has caused CC troops to cause major damage to even the best planned raids. The nerf of the poison spell causes it to no longer wipe out skeleton traps and lava pups in a timely manner. Soooooooooo many nerfs to 3 star raids and the fact that Increasing point defence DPS at the TH10 level has caused a significant nerf to an already difficult proposition of 3 starring a TH10 has turned many players to bunnies. Bunnies are now here to stay and no longer simply a bit of a nuisance ->players need them to crack these horribly difficult bases. I get it, it's here, it's only going to get worse from here on out, and there's no correcting it anymore. You can't make it easier anymore to three star or the strategy would simply be too overpowered.
Bots: the ridiculous amount of time already spent farming max walls/heroes and the u/g times, and the fact that supercell has purposely hidden collector bases thereby throttling the time we spend nexting has put the economy in the position whereby if you don't bot anymore -it's too hard to find a TH snipe in masters/champs, and it's become quite the task to max your own base. TH snipes in high trophy levels have dried up over the last few months and so have the easy loot collector raids.
Complicating the problem is the fact that if SC adds collector bases now, it's simply more loot for the bots and increases the disparity between botters and humans. Bots are here to stay. I get it.
The struggle of the honest player is real, and they're quitting.
TH11? Adding more nexting, longer u/g times, more hero levels, bases even more difficult to three star? I only see this is increasing the amount of bunny users, bots, and the disparity between the honest players.
I feel supercell has caused this ever widening disparity by making three star strats and farming way too difficult and time consuming.
The last two posts get it. Clash of Clans as really stagnated last year and has become a game of YouTube avatars for people that don't know better.
No reason at all to think its dieing
It's not dead, but Supercell needs to give the game some direction. It feels like they want it to be a farming game with a war aspect. They have to keep extending the maximum lvl to keep the farming cash rolling in, but there is a huge part of the community that wants clan war changes, and they're getting nothing so far. Clashcon was a disaster for Supercell. People wanted content and Supercell didn't deliver. That's where most of the anger is coming from.
They have a gigantic live event, people are expecting some huge news, and we get th11. That would be fine, if it came with any information. Nobody knows anything about th11. They announced a new defense, but no one knows what it does, and they haven't even named it. We also got a shadow thing that is apparently a new hero. Supercell dropped the ball.
The only thing that keep me playing clash is war,,,, the game name is clash of clans, they need to do more to war.
everything that's been released except for clash con (in my opinion also) has been ON POINT! this is BY FAR the best game that's free and on multiple platforms. i totally agree with taking it slow and making little changes instead of big changes. why ruin something that is great? There sooo much for a beginner to do.
they had a troop deployment problem--> fixed
they needed to address the max th10 players --> fixed once 11 comes out
modding --> fix or address this and we are ALL good.
The game itself isn't dying but it sounds like some people's interest is. That is normal with any game. Lose some players then gain some new players. I can see at some point it's popularity will fade but I don't see this game shutting down any time soon.
The funny thing with this game is, if people leave, it leaves more loot for the rest of us. Thus making you want to get the loot, causing more people to join, and reinvigorating the game until people want to quite again. It doesn't die, it just goes through cycles.
well it was diagnosed with cancer, but doctors said there is still hope
I'm not sure I'd say it's dying, but I'm starting to feel it might be passed it's peak (at least for me).
No, no, no.
There are a lot of long time players getting bored. To some extend this is because they have been playing the game for such a long time and this is simply the way things go. No game I know has lasted so many hours as Clash of Clans.
On the other hand you can see that the big boom is over, simply because of lack of new stuff and there are still a lot of problems that need to get fixed:
.) Trophy pushing is broken noch only because of clouds and nexting (which is the reason I will never even try it seriously), but also loot gets worse the higher you get up.
.) High players have no chance to get in any clan that does not completely suck, if they are not really good at war, because if they cant beat their suggested opponent, they hurt the clan a lot, but it should be different.
.) Clan wars are nice, but we need to get a league
.) The whole "max everything before you upgrade" mentality is really hurting the gun of the game. Many players get bored at high th8 or mid th9 and stop farming, because the dont get so see new content. There is content, but they are not allowed to get it without the disadvantages of rushing. Balancing was good until th7 where the cost of the th is high enough so you are strong enough the time you can afford it (without gemming). At th8 and above (especially th10) this does not work any more.
.) Loot at th10 still is worse than at th9, especially in the beginning and if you are not so good at attacking to beat the higher th9s with a cheap army. Bad loot at th10 before getting all the th10 upgrades is what kills the fun for most players. In my opinion the whole loot penalty system was bad and should have been solved in a different way like increasing mine production, storage capacity and upgrade costs so much. Until th8 there is no need for a loot penalty and until th8 the balancing was good. You can clearly see that th9 and th10 was added afterwards and the loot balancing is simply not good any more.
.) In clan wars it is more about ♥♥♥♥♥ing the matchmaking and not building certain defenses on purpose just to get easier opponents. Clan wars should be more about attacking skills, good planning (who attacks which base), and base design and not about using instrumented bases.
.) Bunnies. A lot of fluffy bunnies eating all the carrots in my warbase
yes if u war always. it gets too repetitive. we are back to old school farming, chatting clash, with one weekly war. much better and chill this way imo
Yes, Clash is the highest grossing game of all time. But ever since that one awful game hired Kate Upton, Clash has been bumped to second in the daily gross standings. Look through the top 200 apps. There is a Clash Clone in the top 15. Another clone in the Top 150. And about 2-3 similar games in the Top 200.
This tells you that: a) the money is still being spent on these games and b) CoC is losing their market share. CoC is on a downward trend.
Clash isn't dying yet, but having a mid-life crisis.
The updates are really slow and personally it's getting stale
im a maxed out th10 and was a part of a fairly competetive war clan. But the game becomes too repetetive and boring at the top.Not supercells fault, but the format of the game is flawed and bound to fail. Its like a game that used to be super popular back in the old days, "farmville"
Totally agree. And for the peeps saying "whining forumers are the minority" just have a look at the clash FB page, all their posts are covered in people bashing them for bad PR. The player base is frustrated by the total lack of communication. Frustrated player base is not smart. All it takes is one hot game to come along...
Look at the forums. Does it look dead?
Yea it is dying. Why do you think they rushed th11 sorry excuse for a th. Looks like it belongs in a kids gingerbread house kit and not in this game
Meh.. like I said in an earlier post, for every player that quits 10 start... and it takes time to play the game..those new players will be grinding updates for some time. I dont buy the 'companies who have a strong base' dont need to advertise line either, strong companies try to broaden their base.. advertising does that.
In terms of whether forum or fb users are in the minority or majority.. I can only go from what I know of the Bear Family.. Out of 400 active players I'd say under 5% are on the forums.. Im not sure fb wise, and we're a strong family with 8 Clans..Ive seen many good players retire or lose interest and others take their place..
I still say CoC is alive and well.. like anything it does have a shelf life, I guess if we're still around in 2 years time in another is CoC dead thread, we can debate it again then lol..
Not so sure about the attrition rate being balanced by new players, Clash is no longer cool and people are going elsewhere. It needs new features of fun gameplay not another TH level to grind through. Nexting sucks after TH9 and social people have better things to do.
Plus, new players could at least conceive grinding their way to TH10. When it starts to get tedious grinding skulls at TH8 and lavas at TH9, you knew you were at least getting close. Now, when people start to slow down at TH8 and TH9, I'm guessing the distance to TH11 will be too much to hold their interest. IMO.
Yes I think it's peaked. I think it peaked with the Liam Neeson ad during Super Bowl. Been on a steady decline since.
I dunno man... I was at a party a couple of weeks ago, I was bored so started to play a bit, my nephew and a few of his mates enquired what I was doing.. 15mins later 5 kids sitting around playing clash with their cute little THs... I'd seen that look in their eyes before.. me about 2 years ago bahaha..
The question.. Is clash of clans dying?
For me personly no. I'm a TH 10 max defense except heroes and walls. I still get a rush when I smash a base and take the opponents loot and /or stars in war.🙌🙌
This Oct. 2015 marked my 2 year anniversary of downloading clash. With the new update I don't see me quitting anytime soon.
I think Supercell does a good job with keeping the game interesting . :o
It was so hard to deploy troops before the fix! So glad they fixed it. Couldn't deploy my troops right before the fix.
SC was kind enough to announce new content for their veteran players for free! God-diggity-damn!
I'm sure they'll fix modding as soon as they accept its existence. Until then they will be making a few extra bucks. Shhh..
Is the game dying?
Some Clash of Clans youtubers certainly seem to think so.
Many of them have started creating content unrelated to clash (haven't stoped making clash content) since the ClashCon fiasco.
Seems to me like they are trying to cash in some "easy" views before their channel's main theme is dead or they are trying to introduce their viewers to new types of content in an attemt to keep some subscribers after the inevitable death of CoC.
Some of them also have information about the "new update" which leads me to the assumption that they are moving on.
I would agree with Rolfy's point regards alternatives.. I also play Boom and Star Wars and neither is within a mile of the game-play of Clash. The real threat will come when a viable alternative starts to eat into the market.
I am feeling a lull in the game at the moment and must agree that it's maybe lost a little gloss. Hopefully that's natural given the impending update and game changes. It wont suddenly become boring after 3 years it just needs a shot in the arm.
I dont think clash of clans is dying: plenty of people playing, a big fame, plenty of revenue
BUT... Supercell constantly ignoring bot problems AND modders, people ♥♥♥♥♥ing left and rigth, youtubers posting their perfect war attacks using mod programs are acting like a cancer that will eventually kill this game. The lack of action against this have gone for too far and will definately be thekilling blow too this game if nothing against it is done.
Maybe, they are losing a couple of people in the process (we are talking not just a literal couple, but some hundreds or so), even I myself am attracting some looters. It is getting slightly tedious, to say the truth, but surely not everyone agrees with my pronouncement. Firstly, real-life thing are done first, and some times I do a hell lot that I overlook Clash, but no biggie there, and surely some in the community benefits my absence. TL;DR: I have gone stagnant. No complaints there; I saw Clash grow since Christmas of 2013 and I grew my next two or three with it, and as long as I see new content rollin' I should probably get my fingers on the ready. But what they need is more access: if they do not invite the number they did when they released it on Android, then surely it will slow down a bit.
if like they just said, they will be changes in the trophy system, this game will boom and many will join and i believe there will be more users in this game!
CLASH ON!
No it's not. But it is for me
It wasn't dying the first time I saw a thread with this title. Which was in February of 2013.
Nor the 600th time. Which was today.
i believe its dying, for me atleast. i just go through the motions now, war raids--->farm--->upgrade heroes--->repeat.
It was one of a kind strategy game when i started playing it, and it was good and fun to play for a quite a long time. but right now i feel there is nothing new that CoC can offer to keep me interested. I am max Th9 who isn't interested in going to th10 simply because its very difficult to 3star a th10.
I think they should balance th10 along with the release of th11, make it realistic enough to 3star a th10.
Clash was and still is a one of a kind game, but just a matter of time when some other type of strategy game comes along and become popular.
I believe CoC needs to do more, a lot more to keep clashers interested, especially after so many years. they need to introduce new content every month to keep the best strategy game crown.
clash have like season . their is before any update season and post - update season .
before any update the population is normal online in a normal way farms or rush for some hours and then go offline
then there is post update the population grow fast cause old player comeback to play tosee new stuf and new player come to see new stuf
