I recently upgraded to townhall level 7 and I am currently building the dark elixer storage. I just got the 450 gems from sweet victory III which brings my gem count to 660. I already have my 4th builder hut. My question is, should I use 600 gems for the 10k DE for barbarian king or not? If I don't use them, my gems are just sitting there gathering dust. Please share your opinions on why or why not. Thanks in advance.
It's a decision that ultimately is up to you. I did it and in no way would I say that the Barb King is a difference maker to a TH7 in battle. I generally use him as an extra meat shield along with my giants and to deal some extra damage. I kind of wish I had waited. DE is not super hard to get especially if you push a little higher up in trophies, like 15-1600+. I would say using the gems to speed up the occasional upgrade and gem troops is much more effective.

Up to you. If you foresee no use for those gems and have no 5th builder plans why not. He is a nice boost on offense.
Just remember the Barb King needs a builder like a wall. Don't get yourself caught with 10,000 dark elixir and be unable to spend it.
The Barbarian King is obviously very valuable but if you just got your Sweet Victory Achievement, the Barbarian King isn't necessary and is unneeded at your trophy level. Second, unless you spend money on the game, you should be saving your gems for your next builder hut (it seems far away now but you have to start saving up someday). Finally, the King cost 10,000 DE, which seems like a lot but when you start raiding (and by raiding, i mean intense farming) you'll be able to get the King in a fortnight -- 3 weeks tops (however, you should get your trophy range up to 1450 - 1600 at least).
I admit that the King is very valuable, but my opinion (as a player who doesn't buy gems): he isn't worth the gems.
I have no plans on getting a 5th builder hut. I almost never boost barracks or upgrades. To this day, I have boosted 2 upgrades for a total of 12 gems.
No: 10k is easy to get.
i would save them for 5th builder, if you already gemmed then it will be a nice discount.
If not, then save for aq.
If you want to gem I did , but at TH 8 it's easier to get DE drill because it gives you 120 in a couple hours I got 3000 DE
