That is an awkward and cumbersome workaround. Just allow the leader to unset opt in.

Try to contact them, if u can't contact them just check their collcters to c how recently they have been on.
There would probably be a lot of other things that sc could focus on other than this, however, yes we do need something more reliable then collectors to c if a player can use attacks in war.
That goes back to it being a chore to track manually. The game already has a mechanism for the leader to see who should be "in" or "out" for a war -- why not just let the leader use that to keep track of that exact thing?
tbh i don't think this is needed in a clan of 30 or so I have a fair idea who is reliable/trustworthy in war and select accordingly. regardless of opt in or out feature, and if they don't adjust their account responsibly or within a month they deserve to get the boot imo, come on how hard is it to toggle opt in or out - yes there maybe a blip due to unforseeable emergencies etc but in general you should be responsible enough to change / update your own profile. And if i accidently miss some one out no sweat I make sure they are in for the next war.
As the leader, you already have the option to opt someone out on the war screen before starting a war. Taking it one step farther and being able to access their profile to opt them out is not necessary.
The responsibility of changing their opt in/out button is the individual player. If you have many clan members that fail to be responsible enough to do this, then it is your job as the leader to decide whether they belong in your clan. As the leader, you set the rules, so if this is a constant problem within your clan then you need to let them know you will not tolerate irresponsibility and then have consequences.
It's actually the nice way of telling people like you to that this is stupid. What if the leader "forgets" or just get to excessive in not allowing someone to war? Then were right back here on another thread, leaders of a clan don't need to be all powerful, then why have a co-leader? Learn to pick better clanmates then you won't have these issues, people should be active in the clan and know who didn't attack last war, if there are too many people to keep track of then probably time to disband and start over. Not that difficult of a process.
I like this idea. I agree, keeping a list and having to continuously put people out due to inactivity is a pain. We have a lot of kids who well, seem to get punished every now and then and get their phone taken away (just an example)...I would OVE to put someone out of war permanently and then they can put themselves back in when they return. Also a counter for how long they have been set as out would be helpful too.
This isn't a bad idea, and it wouldn't give the leader too much power as the leader can choose who goes to war, and kick out members.
All the idea is doing is making it more convenient for the leader. If a member doesn't like the leader they can already leave the clan.
First of all the Opt IN on the user profile reflects the USERS choice of whether they want to be in war - and they carry this choice wherever they go. The Start War screen reflects the choices made by the Leader or Co that starts the war and they are able to override there.
Leaders have no business messing with peoples personal (USER) profile.
While leaders do have ultimate power over who stays or goes - both in war and in the clan. Bad leaders end up in clans by themself. Both of these things IMO are as they should be.
