If that happens then you just don't know how to deploy troops in formations to where that WONT happen.

I raid 1 million an hour using healer/giant..
I am proud to be one of the few people can can use supercell provisions like healers
All units have their own AI features, learning exactly when and where to drop which units to take advantage of the good ones and minimize the bad ones is what this game is all about. If you are farming you shouldn't be using wizards anyways, pick units that will die quickly so your healer goes back to the giants. I used healers with lots of success near the end of TH6 and beginning of TH7, they are cheaper, faster, and take less room now than they did then, although TH8 now has one more AD.
While I can understand much of the "you don't know how to use them" responses, I disagree: the healer AI is damaged. I just sat through an end-of-raid situation where my giants were dead. My two healers focused on two wizards at full health and not being attacked, while the rest of my ground troops - all of them - were getting shredded by the remaining defences.
Troops being killed > troops wandering around at full, destroying stuff. If not, why do healers exist?
