The above is about 100 housing hits. I keep twice as much in camps and barracks are building constantly to maintain the ratio. I usually attack 4 times in an hour and the other 50% is held in reserve if the initial force is getting beat up.

I use
8x wizards
8x giants
4x wall breaker

And finally either 10minions for a quicker attack or I wait out the time and add a healer and 3minons instead.
As for strategy I pick a side of a base I want to attack, make a wall of about 60 barbs then drop all giants behind them finish rest of barbs, wizards behind that, wait for air defence to be taken out, then finish by dropping the healer or minions. I would say 4 out of 5 times I 100%. It cost approx. 60k for me and take 31 minutes if minions are used over healer
All I do is train barbs and hit next until I find a farmer and take out there TH easy as that. Sometimes i'll bring gobs to get some extra resources from the mines and pumps. :)
