Firstly, credit to SC for putting on a high quality event. However disappointed people were about the lack of more details on the update (more on that later), I thought the production value was high - the audio/visual work, the venue layout, the welcome packs, the catering (not great, but decent and plentiful), the organisation, the attitude of all the staff and the overall focus on creating a great experience for those attending was impressive in my book. It was clear they spent a lot of money and put a lot of effort into this event. Would be happy to share more details on this if anyone is interested, but I'm pretty sure some SC haters have already stopped reading cos I've found something positive to say... :-)
Regarding the update reveal, I was pretty underwhelmed by how much they decided to reveal officially, but encouraged by some of the conversations I had with YouTubers, forum mods and SC folks there. Here is what I gathered, albeit with my own assumptions/interpretations/reading between the lines as these guys weren't allowed to give much away:
- This update will be huge but TH11 is only one part of it
- SC might have preferred to have the update ready for ClashCon so they could reveal more but perhaps development/balancing has taken longer than expected. What we might get is as much as 2-3 "normal" updates (someone said they told SC they might be trying to do too much at once!), so delays are not hugely surprising in my opinion. Even the new def they showed us is still subject to balancing before release
- sneak peeks might last 2 weeks. They should start "soon"
- The silhouette revealed is not a new troop but a hero of some kind
- there is unlikely to be a new troop in this update
- some existing def may get new levels at TH11 next update, with new ancient/mystical theme. I'm guessing not all def will get updates now, this will come over time. Same with existing troops (pure speculation)
- the new defence revealed will be for TH11 only
- the new defence we saw is only triggered after a certain number of troop (spaces) are deployed on the map. For example, if this number is 100 spaces, it will not be triggered by dropping 3 golems but will wake up when dropping a 4th golem. What you focus on in this first phase will be critical and introduce many different strategies
- new def will primarily do huge damage to one target at a time, but also a bit of splash damage
- it might be possible to avoid the full effect of the new def - it shoots the beam into the air, it has a delay while it charges up and the beam drops down on the target, so maybe a haste spell could help the troops get away from the beam before it lands
- offence may be given something to "protect" against this new def. Pure speculation alert! - perhaps a hero that throws up some kind of dome/force field over a bunch of troops around them?
- changes are coming that will affect high cup game play (not just TH11 but other adjustments)
- I asked if I should already start dropping from Titan 1 ready to farm for TH11 or will be there some way to gain enough resources for upgrades and still stay at high cups ? Comment was "wait and see the sneak peeks before you decide". Hmmm...
- changes are coming that may make it easier for TH9 to attack TH10 (no details)
- SC want to encourage innovative, multi-phase, hybrid (ground/air) attacks rather than lazy "spam and pray" armies
- In my opinion, reinforced by what we have seen in the live CW tournaments, such armies are currently practically impossible to pull off consistently for 3 stars without the help of bunnies. So I was wondering why would SC encourage these types of attack strategies without addressing the bunny issue?
- Apparently SC have been trying for years to stop bunny lovers. From three different sources I heard three different comments on this topic:
1) one was confident there are changes coming in this update that will address the bunnies
2) one felt SC were working on addressing this, perhaps even working with Apple on solutions (no mention of Android)
3) one felt it was a battle SC will never win. These bunny love creators always find a way to stay one step ahead
We'll see!
Again, lots of "off the record" comments mixed with my own interpretations of what they wanted to say but couldn't and my own speculation, but enough to get me excited about what they have in store for us!
