Slight Changes to Clan Donations
I have a couple ideas to possibly improve clan donations. I'm quite sure I'm not thinking this through all the way so I'd love to get some feedback.
The ideas are to help improve a couple scenarios we face in our clan. So a bit about that...we have a medium sized clan with an active chat. We have members from all over, mostly North American and several European. During wars, we are often talking strategery in chat. Chat can fill up pretty quickly sometimes. 10-15 minutes and a request will get pushed off the screen.
A couple problem scenarios we have...
1. Someone requests troops that take a long time to cook. This is more problematic when one of our European players does this when they are logging out for the night (before war starts) and they hope to have their troops ready for an attack first thing in the morning when they wake up.
2. The few players we have who can cook max golems, for instance, pop on several times during the day. If your request isn't present at that time then you strike out.
There's more scenarios, but these are the main ones I'm considering for this proposal (for now).
Here are a couple different proposals to address this...(I believe having a separate chat for donation requests has been ruled out so I am going in a different direction. Correct me if I'm wrong on this please!)
1. What if you could cook a troop and designate it for donations? It would still be in your army camp and still take up room until someone claims it. But it would show up in chat similar to a request. Instead of a button for everyone to donate, the button would be for you to receive it.
Here's how it would work...
- I cook a troop (or group of troops) and it is in my army camp
- I click my army camp and select info (or click my army button)
- I select a troop and click a donate button
- A pop-up comes up and asks how many troops I want to donate. So if you click on an archer you can then select 5 or 6 archers.
- Then a message shows in chat saying "John, here are the archers you needed" or whatever message I want (just like when requesting).
- Then whoever clicks on the button in chat gets the troops
I understand the drawbacks with this as members would be able to steal troops. The donator could receive a message saying who received the troops just like you get currently when you are the recipient. If that message is available then clans could deal with managing troop thieves as they desire. Also, this would not replace the current request feature. It would be an addition.
2. What if when I request was made you could start cooking a troop and 'link' it to a request? Again, you would need to have room in your army camp and you may need to select a number of troops (which may be a little trickier here). But once the troop is finished cooking it automatically goes to the requestor's clan castle.
Here's how it would work...
- When a member makes a request the message in clan chat has two options..."Donate" and "Cook"
- Clicking on the donate works as normal. Clicking on Cook brings you to your army button.
- At this point any troops you select until you close the army cookery button (seriously, what's that thing called?) will be designated for donation.
- If someone donates before your cooking is done you are stuck with the troops (which is how it works now). Otherwise you will never see them coming and going as long as you have room in your camp.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on these. As I stated before I'm probably not thinking this all the way through.
Thanks for reading.
