running out of time- with GoHo >____<

Hey Guys,

ive been getting two stars a bit more often than i would like due to lack of time in war. I need help with this issue.. i have troops left usually- hogs and a few wizzies, but i keep running out of time..

Any suggestions to help improve upon this? it has also been happening to my friends who use GoHo too..

usually run out of time on a maxed TH8 base.

i usually do my cc lure and they are usually dragon.

my troop comp-

1 (Lvl 2) Golem
28 (lvl 4) hogs
4 (lvl 5) wiz
1 (lvl 5) giant
1 (lvl 5) archer

CC: maxed witches, or maxed hogs... rarely maxed wizzies..

Sometimes with a GoHo, time becomes an issue. I usually start clean up with wizards as soon as last heal goes down for the hogs. Generally, start you wizards cleaning on the opposite side of the base where the hogs finish up. Don't overlook corner buildings. Try to get your cc lure and kill done quickly more than 45 seconds for this step is generally too long.

Also, watch videos on surgical hogs, that deployment method tends to clear bases fast.

I am a max th9 and if im attacking a upper mid to mid th9 i typically use around 28 hogs and finish with 30 sec and 1 min left. I struggled with this problem when I first hit 9 as well. After watching my replays I realized that it is because I needed to go through the steps of my attack quicker. For example. pull the cc to the side where you are going to use your kill squad to kill the queen. During the cc pull, i send a giant to tank for 3 hogs to try to take out a giant bomb (ie. there is a gap behind an archer tower so my hogs kill archer tower run to the next building through a bomb space. During the cc troop kill. do not use all of your wiz typically I use 2 witches and a few wiz and my queen to kill the cc troops so I don't loose any troop space and withces can help tank/clean up. As soon as the cc troops are down, drop a golem and and 1 or 2 more wiz to help funnel your king toward the queen (make your queen kill at an angle it will take out some giant bombs if you have an idea where they are). At this point you have 25 hogs and 2-3 wiz left. Now This is where I use to make my mistakes. I like to watch the queen die. This is valuable time wasted and your tanking units die during this time. As soon as the queen targets your golem/king. drop your hogs on either side of your kill squad, which ever side you like the pathing. This allows your hogs to go in almost untouched since defense units are shooting golem/witches and king and kills the defensive buildings that are shooting your kill squad so they stay alive to help clean up. Now remember you still have 1-2 wiz left in the bag, dont sit around and watch your hogs (but be mindful of placing heals) as soon as your hogs clean out a side, drop those wiz behind them (ie. dont wait til the hogs ran though the entire base to drop the wiz). If you haven't used your king/queen ability at the point where defenses are almost or fully down, use their ability to gain the extra barbs and archers for cleanup.

These small steps are even more important for those without max hogs. since its the small things that make a 1 or 2 star into a 3 star. (get those hogs to max asap to make your life easier)

This is my general thought process for goho highmid to mid to low th9s.

im a 98% maxed TH8, so i already don't have to kill the queen but still run out of time and i have no clue, perhaps i take too long to lure and kill the cc? i usually lure them where i start already too and i still run out of time... i have no clue. but perhaps is my troop comp correct?

All of our th8s use hogs and have a very good success rate.

They typically use:
30-34 hogs: why? 1 because we found this to work on max th8s, 2nd its better to have more hogs than to not quite have enough
2 witches and a barb in the cc. pull the cc to the side where there is the most point defenses (Also pull cc with hogs in a way that they may take out a giant bomb) : these are what you want to take down fast (point defense). the barb in the cc makes it so the cc troops dont target the witches and gives them time to make skellies. drop 4-5 wiz with the witches to help kill cc troops. Once the cc troops are dead, asian wall (spread hogs out entire length of side your attacking from) This kills the defenses fast. make sure to lead your hogs with the heals, you don't want to heal ground behind your hogs. this is a major mistake our th8s do when they fail. have 1-2 wiz in the bag to place behind hogs as your hogs run through the base.
Other key things to think about:
1: how to approach a dgb: either trigger it with your cc pull, or approach it from the short side (2gbs are 2x4 space, it is a rectangle, send hogs in from an angle that attacks it from the 2 side this allows only 1 bomb to go off at a time; make sure to pre heal this area.

This is perfect advice (although I prefer max hogs in the CC, and barbs to distract the enemy cc. Can never keep my witches alive). For what it's worth, I have run into similar issues as the OP, and I am simply finding more success with mass hogs than GoHo at TH8. You have to really ask yourself if that troops space is worth the extra hogs, especially on cleanup when you know the GB locations.

When I use goho, I think of my hogs as more of a way to get 3. Bring like 10-15 and release after the base is 1/4 to 1/2 toast. To me, it's more of a way to make a 2 star gowipe into a 3 star.

I do GoHo a lot. 28 hogs are too many, of course it always depends on the base. I'd say you need more wizards for the Go and less Ho. :D

dont lure, i never lure with goho, just let aq and wiz take care of them during attack.

what i wonder is do you really need the Golem portion of this attack, what is his purpose? Is he disarming a DGB spot? Is he tanking the king?

Since you don't have an AQ to deal with, i would just lure the CC troops to a corner, poison, a few archers and wizards to kill the drag and just go on the hog deployment.

Deploy as you like, but when the hogs are done clearing a section drop a few wizards to start the clean up of the trash buildings, while maintaining the spell deployment and hogs.

Most of the time, hog attacks have a good amount of time to spare, unless we watched an attack, we can only assume what you are doing wrong to run out of time.

fancy seeing you here lol... anyways Dansta is right.

The major problem you will see with hog clean up (and i had that happen to me before and try to correct it) is that when you clear CC and unleash hogs as soon as hogs are down and started working release the wizards to start cleaning one side of the map, now if you know where you hogs will end up then try to position your wizards so that they come from the opposite end. What i used to do is unleash hogs and watch them as i wait to place the heal spell while having 1-3 wizards in my inventory. then when hogs are safe i release them which wasted at least 20-30 second of clean up time.

I would suggest for th8, to not do surgical deployment. A wall or 2, at least in my experience, works better at th8.

ummm... lol... yes i feel for my goho attacks i think yeah i do need it... for a couple of reasons hehee... big large empty spaces perhaps DGBs, and getting into the ctr.. oh and yeah the dragon in the war cc... it chases my golem and while he does that my wizzies zaps his butt...


yeah i have no clue..why i run out of time tbh, a large amount of my troops are left i think. :unsure: im thinking because i am slow or something.....


if you do have an alt account, it would be great if you come watch a replay in your convenience i am open to that. i need to keep practicing i do practice regularly but usually on a maxed th8 i run out of time it's happening more often than i would like.

i panic with that nasty dragon... sometimes i dont do vanilla hogs (30-32 hogs) is cuz there are huge spaces and i dont know where those giant bombs are and i use the golem to enter that secontion of the base.
yeah so sometimes my heal timing might be offish if i dont scout the base well..lol'... when do i drop the witches from my cc tho? i have issues with that

LOL... PANIC? yes it happens when i know theres a stupid dragon in their cc :facepalm:

ps i really like surgical deployment... it takes out defensive buildings super fast
