Trying to thinking out of the box for CC troops
With the advent of the re-worked poison spell CC troops don't seem to be anywhere as effective as before.
I know from my attacks CC troops are pretty easy to deal with now, lure them out and drop the poison spell, the only things a max poison won't kill out right now is a Dragon, a P.E.K.K.A. or a Lavahound. So many CC's seem to have Lavahounds in them these days and these just aren't effective anymore, before the surprise factor used to catch people out, but a few Minions or the Archer / Healer combo can get rid of this in a few seconds now, and Dragon's can be dealt with by a few barbs and wizards, and well P.E.K.K.A. they are just not very good in a CC as there attack speed is so slow.
So with this I have been trying to figure out what would be the best combo to have, and by this I mean what can deal the most damage to the most troops in as short a time as possible, as the poison kills them off so quickly. I generally still have a Dragon in my CC as this to me seems to be the best multi-purpose high HP troop left, but is it really the best thing to have?
I have tried the following combo's recently:
TH10
1 x Dragon, 1 x Valkyrie, 1 x Giant and 2 x Barbarian : This has had mixed results, the different speeds of the troops means it is slightly harder to bunch them all up to drop the poison spell on. This combo does last slightly longer in the poison spell, however there really is not much damage being inflicted on the attacking troops.
1 x Dragon and 3 x Balloon : This again has had mixed results, the loons are so slow anyway they just don't seem to make it from one side of a poison spell to the other so don't even get to drop a single bomb anymore.
1 x Lavahound and 1 x Balloon : Since the last update this has proved less and less effective, the Lavahound can be lured to the edge and just ignored, and as above the loon will probably not even get a bomb drop off now if directed through a poison spell.
TH9
1 x Dragon and 2 x Balloon : As with the TH10 version very mixed results and pretty easy to deal with now.
1 x Lavahound : So easy to deal with don't even bother with this if I am doing an air attack, and if I am using hogs I will just lure it to a corner a drop two Archers and a Healer and forget about it.
1 x Dragon, 1 x Valkyrie and 2 x Barbarian : Again as with the TH10 version just not enough damage being inflicted to multiple troops.
Now I really think there maybe some merit in having different speed troops in the CC and those that can cause splash damage. The troops that cause splash damage are (these are all max level troops) :
| Troop |
Damage |
Speed |
| Wall breaker |
60 |
24 |
| Balloon |
162 |
10 |
| Wizard |
180 |
16 |
| Dragon |
220 |
16 |
| Valkyrie |
124 |
24 |
| Witch |
30 |
12 |
So out of the above what would be the best combination??? Now this is where I was trying to think out of the box (and I am fully expected to be laughed at!), instead of taking a Valkyrie that may get one swing off causing 124 damage, would 4 x Wall Breaker actually be a better choice, they would explode and cause a total of 240 damage. If these were used with the following combination hitting them all with a poison spell would be very difficult:
1 x Witch (Speed 12), 3 x Wizard (Speed 16), 5 x Wall Breaker (Speed 24) and 1 x Barbarian / Archer
Now the thinking behind this is that the troops would take slightly longer to lure, and all come out a different speeds, hopefully this would mean the attacker would have to wait for them to bunch somewhere before dropping the poison spell (as people don't seem to be luring the CC anymore).
Now do others agree and see my thinking on this? Has anyone tried this already and can tell me if this will be as effective (if not more) than just having a dragon that puffs once maybe twice before it dies. Or is this a completely daft idea and I should just stick to the tired (sorry tried) and tested CC combo's?
