what happened?

It seems, of late. Something has changed with the matchmaking... before you attribute it to people upgrading defense, etc, etc.. my main point here is. Something has changed. We use to have perfect wars regularly. Our top guys haven't changed defensively in many months.. I know they recently added weight to walls and heroes. But is matchmaking now based more off offensive power, than defensive?? We don't have an Xbow or inferno in our entire clan. And more often than not there is a mid level th10. Triple bows, both IT... unrushed. Basically in the #1 spot, followed by multiple th9 with both bows, leveled, and leveled defense. Unrushed. Again. Not a bow or inferno in our clan. What changed in matchmaking? We went from getting perfect wars, and rarely ever losing. To being significantly outmatched almost every war.

Yes, war matchmaking is broken since the last update.

Hopefully, they'll fix it for the next update.

So from getting favourable .5 wars, you now find your being matched more to how you REALLY should..
Maybe time to build your bows and IT's:smirk:

I don't see that this is any more fair honestly. It just gives the advantage to peeps who have never bothered to research how matchmaking works(ed). Soo.. punish people who figured out matchmaking? I concede, many say my offense should be matched to their level. But defense isn't a factor now? Maybe an even split between offense and defensive power would be more suitable?

I'm in a war clan. We tried to game the system with walls and heroes but after some changes, found ourselves outmatched. We struggled for a month until we got the balance right..... seems like SC want to make it more fair for the casual clans which makes a lot of sense in my mind as they are the major customer base.

So my tip for you and your clan is to be balanced. Don't have too many 0.5s in an attempt to game the system. Just have a good even balance of defence and offence.

I dunno if I'd go as far as broken, but something is definitely wacky. Not all of our matches, pre-change, were easy. Many we fought like cornered animals for the win, but came out on top. Those tough matches seem like they would be a welcome respite at this point. Sigh..

I honestly appreciate your feedback. I am considering doing some defense work. Although the idea disgusts me, As I have had the creeping suspicion the changes were made specifically to appease those who whine about ".5ers" I hate to sound like a hater. But it seems like they made it easier for the unintelligent. Easier for those who blindly upgrade anything and everything with no consideration as to the effect it will have on matchmaking. Punishing intelligence. I guess that's what I get for hours of research into the ins and outs of matchmaking. Figure it out and they will change it.

Yeah I agree, I was quite happy having a defensive disadvantage but an offensive advantage. A lot of our oponents were 2 star champs. We quickly found ourselves having both defensive and offensive disadvantages. SC did seem to change the game to be better for the casual clans and when you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Those folks are happy to fork out their $5 every week and when they face serious war clans with low level defences but have max walls, heroes and troops, they get demoralised and may even stop playing. While we are the minority, I doubt we spend as much as them.

These days we only have a few 0.5s, mainly to start off a new th. No one sits as a 0.5 for months to max their lab etc. I even encourage some people to plant xbows/ITs as soon as they reach the new TH. You mentioned that no one in your clan has an IT but if you do have some th10s, maybe it's time they get them.

Best of luck finding the balance. It won't take very long and you'll be getting fairer matches in no time :).
