After searching for a long time, I've finally discovered the answer (to my own question haha). I'm just going to post it in case anyone else was curious.
I'll try to make what I'm about to explain very clear and simple (so bear with me):
First, when a healer is deployed without any other troops, it doesn't move (you probably all know this already).
Therefore, it is possible for the air sweeper to change the healer's position. If the sweeper is close enough to the edge of the map, it will blow the healer OFF the spawn area and into the forest (where you can't deploy troops).
If the clan castle is triggered and it locks on the healer, the ground troops will ignore it (which is normal), however ground troops which can target air (archers and wizards) will chase the healer to the edge of the map, where they will glitch and attempt to chase down the healer which is out of reach (they stop at the edge of the 41x41 grid - can't walk through the trees). I say "glitch" because the still have they're still walking in the direction of the healer, but they can't leave the map.
However, what makes this particularly interesting is the fact that the archers/wizards will still have the healer locked on as their target and will ignore any other troops deployed until the healer is dead. I dropped my queen and it took out the clan castle troops without getting attacked because they were glitched and locked on to the healer which was out of reach.
I have yet to test this for air troops (minions, dragons, etc.) If anyone else has tested this with air troops in the clan castle, I'd love to know the results. I'm assuming they can fly over the trees, but I'm not certain as this is very situational and it already took a long time to even find a base with the perfect conditions to test this.

EDIT: Upon rewatching my replay, it appears that only some troops stay locked on to the healer and are unable to attack your troops (not sure how I missed this the first time). The behavior of the defending clan castle seems to be very inconsistent, leading me to think that this is a glitch not intended by SuperCell.
