Matchmaking in Champion as TH9

Hey I wanted to ask/point out a few things about the matchmaking in Champion and up.

I know there were other posts about this issue, but the last post with a slightly similar problem was from May and i didn't feel comfortable to necromance it :D

Here is the issue:
I've started pushing from crystal about 2 weeks ago, quite the smooth ride to be honest,
yet at the exact moment I hit Champion, there were 0 TH7/8/9 match ups withing Champion itself...
(spend about 4-5 times 45+ minutes on seeking)

I know this issue isn't caused because there are too little TH9's in Champion since
while pushing trough master2 and 1 i found plenty withing Master 1 and champion3 (even a few in Champ2)

I do not know if this is supposed to be like this, and i did read that it has been suggested more to have match ups within your own league before seeking in others. but my issue as a relatively new th9 (just level 94) is that i only get TH9's from the leagues Crystal1 to master2 which give 1 to max 6 trophies for a 3star.

now my question is, am i the only one with this problem?(giant badluck), or is it supposed to do this?

I don't know either but I was considering pushing to Champion so I'll let you know if I get that same issue. I'm in Crystal right now as well at TH9. I know for a fact that TH7/8 are in champion, I've seen some. But it's not as many as TH9/10 so maybe thats it.

it just feels so wierd that when in master I i got plenty of TH9 matchups from champion (even th7's and 8's) and now its like 80% TH10 and the rest are TH9's from somewhere in crystal/low master leagues

Sorry for the bump,
but im getting rather annoyed atm, clanmates who are in Master II and Master I encounter countless of TH9's in Master I and Champion III.

Yet I a TH9 in Champion have to spend 200-400k to find a TH9 that gives more then 8 trophies for a 3 star..

I dont want to sound like a baby whining that the trophy count is too low, i dont care if i only get 18 tropies for a 3 star instead of 30+ but its REALLY annoying to spend over a million gold to find 3 decent matches and earn maybe 5 trophies while when quit the game for a while, i get raided for 30+ trophies for a simple 2star by someone from master II or I

I went to champ as a TH9 recently, and stayed there for most of a season, attacking probably 2-4 times per day. I came across about 3 TH8s in my searching, and probably a dozen TH9s that were worth well over 20 trophies. A lot more of the TH9s were worth 1-14 trophies, because as you said there just aren't enough TH9s and below in higher leagues to constantly come cross TH9s worth 15 trophies or more.

Sometimes I think the matchmaking needs some adjustments...I kept my TH out about 3000 bc I figured the chance I'd win a defense was slim anyway, so I'd just give 1 star and hope they didn't try for more. Still, there were times I got sniped for as much as 15 trophies, and they weren't revenge attacks.


Anyway, perhaps you're being too picky in who you attack...you can build armies to 1 and maybe even 2 star TH10s up here too, and you won't have to search nearly as long for a TH10 worth 30 or more that you can get at least 1 star on (2 will be much tougher, but still doable on weaker th10s with golems 3+/pekkas 3/max witches/giants 6)

My experience at champions 3 has been similar. Hitting next forever to find any exposed townhalls.

The vast majority of bases I see are TH10s. The TH9s are usually worth 1 trophy.

My TH is outside and I get sniped, but the range can be anywhere from 2-15 trophies.

I didn't pay attention the what leagues my opponents were in when I pushed to champions, but I've noticed now that I do see many from lower leagues. The bases I come across that are in champions league are all th10.

I might try to drop just below 3200, like 3150-3199 and see how the bases are there. I saw a thread that seemed to indicate more frequent th9 there.

I have the same issue. I find it extremely difficult to find decent th 9 raids starting in Masters 1. Th 9 can't compete with inferno towers very effectively.

I've tried to find TH9's (with more then 1-5 trophies)
and it doesnt matter at all if my trophies are below or higher then 3200, i still get the same unrewarding matchups.

I sometimes try to attack th10's but 9/10 times it ends up with me losing many trophies instead, lvl 1 inferno's are too pesky.

but since i have loads of spare time i can mitigate the losses of trophies i get from being a farmer (lose between 1-15 trophies each time but mostly 10+)

I really have the feeling there have to be some changes up here with the matchups as TH9

I've tried going below 3200, as low as 3180. While the match ups are still predominantly th10, the frequency of th9 I find is better, and the trophy offers from those th9 better as well. That said, my trophy objective has changed to just get back to 3200, drop again, rinse and repeat.

I'll try for a few more days and see.

I did find two th8 below 3200, which I never did above.

I agree though, the matching needs to be fixed. Not fair for th9 to be matched vs th10 at the frequency it is at currently in champion.
