I have been enjoying the use of Valkyrie based attacks namely GoWiVa and GoVaLo, but after getting only 2 stars from GoWiVa, I am now thinking whether there is something wrong with my attack or this is not really better than GoWiPe as what others have advertised

Typically HoVa and VaLo are the best to 3 star with by open bases are still great for GoWiVa

If it was your first time trying out the strategy, then it makes sense that you didn't completely succeed. It takes time and practice to master a strategy. I'm not an expert at valks but the common belief seems to be that gowiva is more reliable than gowipe, so I'd stick with it.
I'm kinda off-topic here, but I've always wanted to gowipe a town hall 6 but don't want to waste the resources for it.....*sigh*.

suspicious, we get perfect or 1 away every war (because we have no TH10s) so your theory about 2 starring the top 4 will work, till you face a good clan....

I am using GoWiVa with my TH8 mini. I use 2 Golems, 8 Valks, 4-8 WB, ~12 Wiz, 0-4 Loons, maybe something to pull out the CC. Taking 3 max Valks + 1 Barb in my CC. My hogs are lvl2, so I have to take loons if I want backend troops.
Only just ready, so I have only used it in war against 4 mid lvl TH8, easy 100% each time. Tried a couple of times in matchmaking, easy 100% each time against max TH8's (mostly lvl 7 walls though). My valks+golems are lvl 1. 2 heals+1 rage + 1 poison.
I usually lure out the CC, then get it in the direction from where I want to attack. Drop two golems, cc attacks one of them, +poison + couple of wizards behind the golems to kill the cc and creating a funnel. Rage in the middle, valks+bk+wallbreakers in, couple of wizards behind. The Rage is mainly for the wallbreakers. First heal shortly after the rage, 2nd heal a bit later.
If going against full skull, you probably want some backend troops (hogs or loons).
Also, I would highly recommend practising a bit in matchmaking. A few of my TH8 clanmates tried to copy the attack and failed miserably, due to their inexperience with valkryies.
A good deployment is crucial, unless you are attacking low TH8s. So while matchmaking is easier, it will still benefit you a lot.

With Valkyrie based attacks I would probably say 10 wiz max. You don't need as much wizards as you do with pekkas. You generally just need enough wizards for creating the funnel or killing the cc. The space you save on wizards can be used for more valks, balloons or hogs. And I would try to bring as few wall breakers as possible 6-8wb.
13 valks is probably too many. I'd stop at 10 or so and save the camp space for additional backend hogs or loons.Quote:

Also, what someone else said about not needing 2 golems is often true as the valks are fast and quickly get out ahead of the golems, drawing all the fire and negating the benefit of a 2nd one (you'll find the raid is over and you still have a full-golem beating on a wall somewhere). In this case, you can bring like 2 giants to cover for your wizzies to aid in making a wider funnel and clearing doublet buildings. Send your 1 golem in at the main point of attack, and use individual giants at the periphery so your wiz can build a wide funnel. THe camp space you save by bringing 2 giants instead of a 2nd golem can be used for more backend hogs or loons (or more wizzies). Sometimes you WILL want 2 golems however, it really just depends on the base and if you need them to tank the castle troops, etc.
Generally speaking, Gowiva and it's variants are only really strong on the right base. If you find a TH9 with a large core that has both xbows, all 4 AD's, the heroes, and the town hall (along with a couple of teslas typically) packed in tightly, the valks under 1 heal and 1 rage will strip it all in seconds. This base is an easy 3star with Valks.
If the base is spread out, highly compartmentalized, or doesn't have building touching each other, you lose the benefit of the valk AOE attack and you're generally better off going with a different army composition.

The number of golems is dependent on the base.
On my Th8 account I tend to bring 2 because I am usually hitting high level th8 bases. If you can get them in and distracting several defenses, 2 is great. But even against bases with less than maxed walls 2 is usually not necessary. You can sort of see the golems like damage sponges. They take the place of heals really - so if you can district 3-4 defenses from one location - super! However, if you only keep the attention of 1 or 2 defenses you may need other troops to deliver the punch instead
