I am on iOS 5.1.1
And have been having the freeze/crash issues but was able to play, but for the last 24 hours I have been unable to load the app at all. I have done all the usual "fixes" cleared memory, rebooted, even uninstalled/reinstalled, all multiple times. Since I can't load the game I can't send in a support ticket in-app. Can you please tell me how to reach support or if you know when this issue will be fixed? Thank you.
Yes, I have had a long standing crashing issue too on my iPod with 6.1.6. It is ALWAYS worse during events and a boat event started yesterday. Mine got crashy again and I can't get rid of those dang clouds every time I go in. Sucks!
Event ends Monday.
I knew an event started and i didnt have to ask. At least you get to the clouds, i crash during loading. I was ready to give up until i heard they will be releasing a fix. Im on an ipad 1. Im an avid player. I play on my lunch break and as soon as i get home from work. I dont mind not playing but what really gets me mad ismthe wasted time. All the items i could have made, expansions i could have done, levels i could have reached and money i could have made. Plus i could have fully upgraded my last two machines. Oh not to mention the derby points im not getting and the diamonds im nkt collecting. I usually find 5-10 per day opening chests. Wasted time that supercell wont return to me. So i wait for the update. I hope it works. Otherwise, i leave and throw away all my hard work. Well at least it helped pass the time....
I had no trouble during the last two events so this did not occur to me thanks for the info. Event ends Monday but derby ends Sunday , guess i will not be finishing my tasks.

I know, I know what the title is but I assure you, the vast number of problems solved was astounding. Any "flaky app issues", charging issues, connection issues, and on and on. It is a great first step.
After that, if it does not get past the loading screen, try "serial" loading it. That is, load, crash, load, crash, load, etc. Do not double tap and get rid of it, just keep trying to load it. When I first got the crashing troubles, this sometimes worked at 5 or 6 loads.
A few observations from the trenches: crashing occurs from low memory errors. So, if you are so inclined, you can delete apps you don't use anymore. I notice that notifications when I am playing makes it crash so going into settings and notification center and turning off them can help as well as push notifications on mail. Another thing to try is to go to game center and log out. By restricting the access to all your GC friends and how the app loads them can help it not crash but you loose them in your friends tab.
If you get the clouds and it crashes during that animation, when the paper starts flying forward, if you tap and hold it and swipe it off the screen, that can allow it to load. I also found it easier to quickly go to the town or fishing area could help stabilize the game enough to play. It takes practice.
