Hay day keeps crashing

When i go into Hayday its is extremely laggy, and it takes a while for it to actually work. I just got the game and am only a lvl 9. I play it on my ipod 4 IOS 6.1.6 it always crashes it freezes whenever collect stuff it is so slow and it often crashes and sends me to the home screen if i manage to stay in for awhile it eventually gets less laggy and works better it says in the settings that an update has been released to fix the crashing but it doesn't say it in the app store
