ya, i said i will occasionally use surgical hogs/loons with the attack. not often, but 10% of the time it does merits it, IMO. Also, i NEVER disperse ALL my wizards at the beginning of the attack. and NEVER more than 65%. They must be saved for mid way through and even the end of the attack. To get those back end defenses..... Also a big strategy of GoWiPe is to get all your tanks to the core of the base.... and i agree..... but there are also bases where a stray pekka is necessary

i discovered it by accident early on when a pekka missed hitting the entry point and ran the perimeter... i initially thought the attack was lost... but ended up taking out the base much easier than first anticipated. Thus incorporated

the thing with goWiPe at TH8 is that the variants of the attack are infinite. (TH9 even more so) There are SO many different troop/spell combinations... as well as ways to attack, that make this attack probably the most complex... I've discussed this with people and consensus is that GoWIpe is one of the easier attacks, and I was always baffled as to why they say that... and now i realize that its because people go into the attack shooting for 2 stars... then YA, its simple, easy and requires VERY little skill in execution. And 2 stars are a near guarantee.... when you are attacking a base, and trying for three stars, the attack takes about 20 min of planning. and execution MUST be flawless.... any little errors in troop placement get augmented 10 fold, half way through the attack

Yes saving the wiz is a key to 3 stars at th8.

When a pekka gets out roaming I drop a couple wiz in behind and they help clear buildings and the first layer defense. And I loved trap hole bases. Send main force in and when they are targeted drop last pekka or barb king into the hole and then wiz once traps are sprung and giant bomb goes off.

exactly. i notice a lot of people have wizards all dispersed within the first 30 seconds.

you dont need that many wiz at all during initial placement. lvl5 wiz have a very high APS. i put 3 to 4 behind each golem. then an exta 4 to 5 wherever the opponent CC will be intercepted. I always rage and the wiz clear any CC (mid attack) in 8 seconds MAX. Usually around 2 to 3 seconds. that leaves around 8 wizards for placement around the base. plus as reinforcements for center, when some get hit by lg bombs....
this is why i rarely use surgical hogs or loons.... the wiz take care of it

If you need to kill a defense late, you're FAR better off with hogs than wizards.

I mentioned that I do occasionally use surgical hogs.... but thats for a specific spot... whereas wizards will trail a pekka for a long time and work in tandem with it..... also cleanup time is sometimes a factor... and wiz have a slight advantage there....

But, ya, I'm not opposed to hogs... theres a time and place... but I was more refering to a whole side or large section of a base.... not a comcentrated area, in regards to late wizard use

Wizards are way slower and if you missed a compartment hogs don't get stuck on a wall.. I don't run any GOWIPEs but with hog runs hogs are FAR better cleanup troops than wizards. Sure, the wizards will trail the PEKKA, but they won't hop in and kill the defense targeting the PEKKA, then jump out and kill everything else.

yes, you are correct. but i'm not talking about cleanup in the traditional sense. where hogs can navigate and go all over the base. Cleanup on my goWIpe attacks is usually on the tail end of the attack, in one spot/section. where wiz are slightly more effective...

but thats not why i use them. its for the value in terms of unit space...
lets go with 5 wiz and 4 hogs.... 20 units

4 hogs i use (as i've said the OP). but its for specific section of the base. and something i have planned ahead of time (their path and what they will destroy).
with wizards i can tack on 1 (or 2) wiz to a pekka and he can clear a lot of buildings. If the wiz strays or gets hit by a bomb. i can tack on another to the pekka. still only losing 8 units of space. and being able to tack on 3 more wiz later... or use those three elsewhere on the attack...

My GoWipe attacks are planned out, but you can never anticipate every single detail or hiccup. when i use surgical hogs i have less room for error because my reserve of wizards is only 3... instead of 8


the extra wizards i bring are wild cards.... i never know exactly when they will be placed.... but having 8 instead of 3 really helps seal up the 3 stars...the more wildcards the better...

the times i use a few hogs is when i'm sure of the attack and just need them for 1 tough section. but the more variable the attacks, the more wizards i could use....

anyways, i'm on board, i love hogs with wipe. but they dont always serve the purpose i need to 3 star. so i'm not disagreeing with you. merely pointing out one of my other attack variation

as for Gowiwi, i've done it a few times, but as a TH8 i rely on 2 donated witches. and still use a pekka. it was okay, but really cant give it a fair shot as a TH8.
I like to get lots of practices in.... with goWiPe i will gem my barracks, BK, and spells for 2 hrs and i'm able to squeeze in 7 attacks in 2 hrs.


so with GoWiVa whats the theory on valks > pekka. are 3 valks better then a pekka? Its actually intriguing thinking about it. 6/9 valks instead of 2/3 pekka. the real drawback that jumps out is DE cost. that will push the DE cost in the 1800 range (UGGH).... but i'm still intrigued if it can cover some bases that a pekka cant. or even using a hybrid of the two. a few questions if you are familiar with the attack.....

• Does their splash damage help keep them central? Pekkas REALLY like to stray. I could see the tendency of valks to go in between buildings to keep it going more towards center
• how long to they last?? Its more units but less HPs. I see this as having to use heal earlier. The reason i like GoWiPe is that i can use my two heals after the half way point. and when well timed, i have full HP on my pekkas and king for the second half of the attack. with valks i see the heals being used much earlier to keep more of the group alive
• their DPS and HPs are fairly equal when broken down to unit cost. Are valks more efficient in any way? I see wiz tower being the biggest problem for valks. Even though small, their splash damage could add up quickly on a group of 5+ valks
• Is the attacks strategy different? Or does it follow the same general strat as a Wipe

I'll prob think of more... Honestly, thinking it through in my head, i like it. I just dont see it as a regularly used attack solely based on DE cost. and rarely being able to practice in on regular bases.... and any attack i regualarly use in war, i like to "play" with a couple hundred times on regular bases...
