Display the Number of Troops Active in Combat

Say I deploy 50 archers, I see them in the field but they're all bunched together. They start getting killed and I have very little information regarding how many I have left.

It would be great if the number of troops still active in the field (still alive) could be displayed on the corresponding troop icon, above the number still available to deploy (say in green).

This would enable you to monitor the entire battle more scientifically than just guessing how many of any particular troop is making up a group. With all of the troops stacked on top of each other, it's very difficult to work out how well you're doing.

It would be a simple but hugely helpful addition, while not altering gameplay mechanics or balance.
