I know that you should only post well thought out ideas, but I don't think it would be that hard for Supercell to make the revenge button grey when the other player has a shield or is online.

While there may be more 'complex' games than CoC, I doubt many of them are on the same scale as millions of accounts and active sessions at anyone time.
they cannot improve the revenge feature because they spent way to much money on the commercial to feature the revenge function
I gave up trying to do revenge attacks as after scouting the village then deciding to attack, you then find they have a shield or they are on-line. Obviously there is not a simple solution to this but I do find it a pain.
Many of those advanced games require WiFi to download and play.
Supercell has a vested interests in keeping their App's file size, as well as their network traffic, a low as possible. Full mobile gaming capabilities is one of those factors as well as low data usage. Not everyone that plays Clash is in a well developed country where there's a cell tower every 5 miles around you.
Thanks for clarifying axion, rather than just saying "o there's absolutely no way" . If this isn't a viable way to make revenge useful I'm sure atleast something can be done so people don't waste countless hours pressing a button that essentially doesn't work...like perhaps even getting rid of it
The reason for the declined usability of Revenge is clear and well documented.
With those reasons in mind, even if they did implement this idea all it would do is use network resources for minimal gain. With millions of users world wide, each of them pinging their defense log... how often? Every 5 minutes? Every log on? Every time you load the defense log?
When the answer to 95% of those on your list will be "Unavailable."
The biggest change to Revenge, from various sources of input from suggestions in multiple threads, is a reduction of the "Revenge Buffer" the lower you go in leagues. There should be a cut off point, probably best to be Gold 1, where there is no buffer below that threshold.
The higher you are in league, the less likely you'll be able to revenge. Even today, those in Gold and Silver have a much easier time revenging then even Crystal players, Champions and higher practically none. Don't feel bad for them though, they did it to themselves for being crafty little buggers and exploiting the original Revenge System.
