Naming your Heroes

I had an idea to amp up your Heroes a bit, it's not like a stat change or anything that would effect it's look or attack type. This is giving your Hero a name!

The name would hover over the health and level of the Hero. But, giving your Hero a name would cost you depending on what level it is.
For Instance:

Level:	Price for name change:
1 - 5	500 Dark Elixir
6 - 10	1000 Dark Elixir
11 - 15	2000 Dark Elixir
16 - 20	4000 Dark Elixir
21 - 25	6000 Dark Elixir
26 - 30	10000 Dark Elixir
31 - 35	12500 Dark Elixir
36 - 40	15000 Dark Elixir

Unlike your village, you can rename your Hero as many times as you would like. However, there is a cooldown time for renaming your Heroes which increases each level range like the costs above.
Cooldown Times:

Level	Cooldown Times
1 - 10	5d
11 - 20	7d
21 - 30	12d
31 - 40	14d

Also, if your Hero is level 40, then it's nametag will turn Yellow.

I have been a long time supporter of this, but people could use it to make inappropriate names. A solution could be a list of words in the COC code that doesn't allow any inappropriate names. They would try all of the loopholes they could think of and then they could have people report any names that they have seen that they think are inappropriate.

I would LOVE to give my heroes a name

True, but maybe Supercell could remove symbols from naming your Heroes, or like you said, put code in that doesn't allow certain words. If people still abuse the feature, and somehow name their Heroes something innapropriate, then you can report that player.

Added color change of nametag when Hero is level 40.

Well, you could say the same thing for IGNs. But guess what? We still have them. Having a filter wouldn't be difficult.

Also, I approve, and if this does actually happen, I'm naming my AQ Mildred and and BK Bernard :smirk:

hm, not bad.. but why not regular elixir >_>

difficult enough as is to get the precious resource. 1-2 Drills nearly useless vs like 7 or 8 elixir drills. I vote for regular elixir name changes

Just as the Heroes take Dark Elixir to upgrade, I thought to give your Hero a name, Dark Elixir should be involved. Not to mention that people would question why everything about Heroes involves Dark Elixir, and naming them would cost regular Elixir.

They could use the same filter used in global chat... Including being unable to use characters that aren't letters (of course this would include japanese, chinese and other characters from supported languages).

But you can only change your IGN once. You can change your heroes name as many times as you want. People don't want to be stuck with a stupid name.

Don't really care, but why not? I still think SC should first work on dark barrack troops though....

While I'd be interested in this idea as well, I can already see the chaos that Supercell support will have to deal with as well as here on the forums...

"...my little brother changed me name..." "....wasted all my dark elixir!..."

"I got banned because I didn't realize a phallic reference was inappropriate for a game rated for 9/10/13 year olds!"

The minority ruins it for the majority, thus the cycle of life.

It would be cool to have in game, but a headache for Support. I think if made possible, it should definitely costs gems. If it's going to increase support's headaches, at least make the feature earn some revenue.

Well, the same thing goes for usernames. It's actually worse for usernames because you can't change it back once it has been confirmed. Also, people would complain MORE if it were used with gems, because like you said, someone could say "My brother wasted all my gems I bought on a name for my BK!" I think Dark Elixir would be more appropriate because you can just raid someone and get it all back.

In the comments on page 1, we had discussed about this matter and decided that if naming Heroes were to be added, then censorship would be necessary. I do realize that some people decide to be crude and immature, and the same thing goes for usernames. Many people change their names to something not appropriate, realize that they can't change it back, and evidently, someone reports them for renaming them self something hurtful or crude. Either that or Supercell could add a function to which players cannot name their Heroes with certain abbreviations or words in it. Also, thanks for the support ;)

Trust me, I was against the idea of Name Changes when it was just a request on the forum. I was still against it when the feature was leaked. I was against it as an actual sneak peak. I was against it when it became a real feature. I was against it when I had no idea who anyone in my clan was. I was against it when all the threads started to flow in. I'm still against it to this day.

With that being said, I still like this idea far more than I ever liked name changing. At least the name of your heroes doesn't affect whether or not I'll remember who you are.

People will complain whether it's DE or Gems. At least with gems, we can up Support's allocation for industrial size bottles of Extra Strength Tylenol...

True, but I assumed that someone can easily go on your account and waste gems that you bought on a name for your Hero that isn't very pleasing, that is, if you gave them the chance to. That would cause even more people to complain because their money would be wasted.

I don't tend to see any inappropriate usernames so they may be able to block all the names for your hero that are blocked for usernames i get your point

I don't know what it is about this idea.. but I just don't like it. Seems a bit unnecessary if you ask me. I could care less if this was added, but I just can't back this up, :straightface: Sorry.

But they also should have an image change, I mean, when you choose a name you can also choose an appearance for ur king and queen

I didn't want to change the Heroes completely, just add something to give your Heroes a little bit of uniqueness.

Great! I would call my King Günter! But the renaming costs are too expensive.

I made it so it would be a small amount, but not too small that you can go out, raid someone once and be able to rename your Heroes.

Personally, I don't think we need anything that is desired and has no purpose. When adding a new feature, consider aspects that could change the game, not just features that we can simply have and exploit to inappropriate and vulgaric measures, as this feature would definitely imply...

Well, as we have discussed before, if this were to be added, there would have to be a censorship function.
Also, I respect your opinion, and I just wanted to add a fun little aspect to the game that would change the normal Heroes into something that you can customize, but not something that would change it's entire appearance.
