Upgrading heroes paused with gems

I been just thinking about idea how SC wouldn't lose income, but game would be more fun and fair.
So i came to idea, where you can pause hero upgrade and use him/her on attacks.

Pausing cost maybe 50 gems?

In our clan almost no one gem hero uprade times, they just go to red as i do. So our full 50 member clan is doing 25-30 wars. We are doing cw 2 times per week and most of us doing only one war per week because of hero sleeping.

So as a now, no income for SC, most of us just playing less.

At least i would pay that 50 gems per week easily, if cost was more maybe not.

Of course you'd pay 50 gems a week as opposed to paying the 1000 gems to finish the hero, who wouldn't?

If you didn't buy gems before, what's the likelihood you'll buy gems when the gem requirement is significantly reduced?

This has been a long going contention between players and Supercell. I think there's a compromise that exists out there, but 50 gems to cover you for the week is not practical as you get about as much in free gems per week. So with the costs being low enough that you can cover it from free obstacles and gem boxes, is that really a compromise for Supercell?

The last numbers I came at for a reasonable compromise would be about 116 gems per hero, per use.

That way, you have the option to gem the hero for use at a discount of about 70% from just gemming it to completion from the beginning. That gives users like yourself an opportunity to use heroes when you need to but won't stop those that are already spending the money to gem them today.

The amount of gems is, of course, relative to how much time is left for the upgrade. So 116 would be if you needed to use the heroes right at the beginning of an upgrade. It eventually reduces as time ticks off the upgrade mark. With 2 days left, it would go down to around 80-90 per use, etc.

I had a more detailed and concise analysis of this idea, somewhere out here in the forum history...


But the end of the day, if they ever allow heroes for use on offense during war, it won't be free - either literally free or such a low gem amount that you can do it regularly from the free gems you receive from obstacles.

I like the idea of pausing the Hero upgrade for War!

However, I don't think it should cost anything. Delaying the upgrade by pausing it, is probably enough disadvantage... And the pause is limited in time, 10 minutes for example. That's enough to complete an attack in War...

After the pause, there should be a substantial cooldown period as well. An increasing cooldown, in fact: 12 hrs after the first pause, 16 hrs after the second, 20 hrs after the third... and so on! Gemming the cooldown would be an option, at the price of 10 gems/hr.

Could you agree?

You can't pause a cannon upgrade for a one time defense, so why should you be able to pause a hero upgrade?

Because the Hero is offense, not defense.

You can't use the barracks/spell factory when they are upgrading, though. they are offense.

I still think 50 gems is right price. There is actually very small % of players who gem 100s or up to 999 gems hero uprage time. I would say 1-2% use large amounts of gems to hero upgrades.

Then if its low enaugh price to get heroes usable, almost everyone start use that feature as a default. And thats what it should be. So we get again more active people and large wars and SC make profit.

You can say, 50 gems come from obtacles, but it comes anyway. So gem use increase by 50-100 gems per week, but not free gem production. Think about it...

You can't take your Barracks/Spell Factory to War either.
Heros are a Troop, not a building, and you can take Troops to war/battle when they're upgrading (in the Laboratory)!
And, not to forget, buildings (defenses and others) being upgraded are still useable in War.
