Recruiting from Global Chat--What's Your Strategy?

One of the best strategys that works for me ( before we switched to only forum applications accepted) I used shortcuts (this only works on apple devices) Tap the "Settings" icon on the iPhonehome screen. Tap "General," then "Keyboard" and select "Add New Shortcut." Tap the "Phrase" text field and enter the text you want to appear when you type the shortcut.) so all that I would have to do is type globalpos and it pops up as 👊🏻Desolation 2👊🏻Hard-Core War Clan👊🏻Feeder to Desolation👊🏻Currently recruiting new members👊🏻 the combo of emojis and a good add makes people flood in.

Gets boring after a while when many people start spamming stuff like that.

I actually was doing what thecoolkyle suggested and wasn't really seeing results. I definitely prefer having a description over just saying something like "join"--figure that gets spammed way too much and at least having a description lets people know what kind of clan you are. I've been trying being a bit more personal on chat, hanging out, talking, then inviting specific people, and that's been a bit better. However if there don't seem to be people in chat who would fit I'll still do my standard spiel just in case there are any lurkers who might be looking for a good clan.

Global recruiting is often hit and miss. I found that the point of recruiting in global isn't so much to target specific people to join. The goal is to advertise your clan so that when people decide to look for new clan, they will remember to check out your clan. Most clanless people on global are permanent hoppers. After a while, you will start to recognize the familiar names over and over again. Getting people to know your clan requires a lot of work. If I don't have much time, I will drop a quick line in global using keyboard shortcut. The key is not to make it look like spam. It could be just a quick greeting or even an emoji icon. If I have more time, then I will try to engage in meaningful conversations.

Global recruiting works best when you are using a high level/high league account though. Most people aren't going to pay attention to low levels.

Usually what stands out among all the spammers are people that like to hold good conversations. Ended up meeting a bunch of really cool people in global and making new friends. A few of them I have been clashing with for over a year already.

Honestly, recruiting on Global is a ♥♥♥♥ shoot, occasionally you will get lucky and find a good member, but most of the guys you find from global are not that good, or will simply not be that good of fit and leave. I think the best strategy is to go for quantity, not quality on the global boards, so I try to recruit from global every time I log on to do something.

The phrase I use when recruiting is: "92% win rate war clan looking for th7+"

I used to recruit a ton from global, I developed a few techniques... but Its been so long I can prob only remember half of them.

1) Push to a high league, its stupid, but people go nuts when a master league player is recruiting
2) Have specific requirements you are looking for, you def dont want to be seen as someone who takes anyone... otherwise good recruits may see you as weak
3) This goes along with #2... make sure you have the correct tone. You "are looking for this type of person and no one less, dont bother requesting if you dont meet our expectations." ... an appearance of a strict policy (whether or not you actually follow it) is important because any decent person in global wants to be part of an exclusive club
4) Switch globals frequently by force stopping the game and restarting. Most global lurkers are there for quit a while, so it helps to change globals frequently.
5) Be willing to spot smart gamers under your usual "criteria" and train them up. My most loyal and effective clan members are often guys we took a chance on and trained from the ground up.
6) Be ok with hoppers, they often are HS kids who havent found a legit clan yet. I have had several hoppers settle down permanently, or drop in for a few wars at a time. If you are cool to them they will always get war attacks in before leaving and come back when they have the time to be of use.... Ive never had a recurring hopper that isnt worth my time... generally bc we expect war attacks to be used.

My clan is lvl 7 (close to 9) with 140 wins. We started because our previous clan didnt respond to the beggining of clan wars. I used to spend way to much time in global sorting through the turds. It is painful but can be worth it. However, I recommend recruiting through members real life friends/family or other games.... the peer pressure results in much better members.

jemstone - Very true. There are a lot of oddballs out there. Maybe sounding somewhat sane could catch people's interest...

Wiliest - Yeah, I figure a good amount of getting clanmates from global is just luck of the draw. There's a reason I've started using the forum for recruiting, after all.

reggie1713 - I know what you mean about using an account in a higher league--makes people think you know what you're doing, I guess, though I actually didn't have as much luck at Master III as I thought I would for recruiting, just people asking for advice/base ratings, etc. But I guess that sows the seeds, right? My clan honestly doesn't have terribly high criteria to enter since it's more a "war for fun, try to learn" kinda clan. I've already got my best friend and my wife in the clan, so I'm not sure who else would really be interested. Options there are unfortunately pretty limited for me right now.
