I've always wondered this. While sometimes you will get a gem box 5 days after the one before, sometimes it feels like a year before you get your next one. I think I've heard that everyone gets the same amount of gem boxes (just as we all get the same amount of obstacles: 3 per day yielding an average of 2 gems.)
So, what is the rate of gem boxes spawning? Do we all get an equal amount of them? Is there a set time when they spawn?

I believe it's one a week. But if you do not collect it then more will not continue to spawn
its not actually every 7 days but it's about one a week. Although it is technically possible for you to get one today and get another tomorrow.
Yeah it feels very random, I'm pretty sure I once got a gem box after 2 days from the last. Sometimes more than a week passes by. :facepalm:

It fits the quantity that I see well enough that I'm prepared to believe it.
As far as patterns..... the last I checked 60451320051034005010 was still the order gems were awarded for cutting down obstacles. Someone discovered that one a long time ago.

Btw, I think the average is 1/week. I have received back to back boxes when I missed it the previous week. But, two months ago I didn't get a single box at all. :(
