When What You See On A Farm Isn't What It Really Is

Ok I wasnt sure how to phrase the title but what I was trying to say is, I've seen my friends' farms with machines and feed mills that run 24/7 and I was wondering if it was even remotely possible esp for the feed mill. Thoughts that came to my mind was, even with all slots opened up, making feed takes a relatively short time so why were they turning all day and night? I only realized what I'm seeing on a farm isnt really what it actually is after I started a secondary farm on my spare iPhone. On my secondary farm, I wasnt using any machine but when I visited my secondary farm via my main farm, it actually showed all my machines churning stuff. Why does it show different things? Is not what I'm seeing real time?

What I've noticed is that you'll see the farm the way it is depending on how the player has left it. For instance, if a player has their machines running before closing the game, that's what you'll see and will continue seeing even if they haven't logged into the game for a while.
