Farm clan wanting to transition to war.

So here's the deal, i have a couple things i want to discuss/cover. Every war we only manage to get the minimal amount of participants 10 sometimes 15.
- I am wanting to know how to properly boost war participants in an adult based clan (21+).
-also i need suggestions on questions for recruits to make sure they are not kids. We currently use "how to shift from park to drive ect.
-how to transition from hardcore farm clan to a war clan
-i am open to hearing any suggestions.

Okay so here's a little more about our clan with lv5 perks. We are currently sitting at a comfortable 49/50 members who are near" end-game" play (th9-th10). We have a sister clan but really no one active is in it. Currently we only recruit Players with 30+ for th9 and 50+ for th10 in royals. 80-90% are active and have high season statistics (wins, gg, ect.) at the end of each cycle but they just don't care to opt in for war. 20% of the clan which happens to be the same people who are in each war communicate often in clan chat and have an extremely high lvl of play. While the other 80% are lurking in the shadows farming, doing their own thing more casually. Also out of the 49 members we have 5-7 donor accounts which assist in instant max donations. We war twice a week and are on a 27 game win streak so we do know how to win.

We also use band for our third party app. I am starting to introduce that feature to new members after they are accepted.

In my experience, people who are going to participate in war are already going to be in war most of the time. For those on the fence, if you add a rule of participating in war (at least, when opted in) or being kicked, and remind people of it, that usually is enough to get people to attack. As for those already not participating, I'm guessing if you want to make your clan a war clan those people would either leave or be kicked, so the best option in my mind would be to make a feeder clan where your farmers can stay and farm while those wanting to war can stay in the original clan (or switch it up, since the war clan should be able to advance through levels faster than the farming clan). Of course it's ultimately up to you to do as you wish, but that's my two cents.

I don't think that changing will be good for your clan. Sounds to me like a pretty good high level farming clan. And you are doing well in wars with those that do want to participate, so why change things up?

A change like this is pretty major. I would expect a good number of the 80% who aren't interested in war to quit and find another farming clan. Of the few that stick around, you will probably need to boot some of them for not participating, or positively contributing to your new goals and expectations. This would leave you with basically what you have now for war purposes minus a whole bunch of good players that don't like war, forcing you to basically start anew the recruiting process to become an established high level war clan.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it. Think about using your sister clan a war clan, shuffle some guys around and focus on that one for wars. Leave the farm clan as it is.

Thank you lett and sparki. You both have very good points. After going over in more detail and depth, to boost participants without a high attrition percentage from transitioning farm to war, the best idea is to start a second clan.

The main reason for looking to boost participants is that the 20% of war participants are wanting bigger wars. I cant blame them, majority of the players in our clan are farming heros and walls only.

So how would a hardcore farm clan, start a second clan to boost war participants. We have a sister clan but the accounts that are in it are 2nd accounts and extend length away/non active players. So really its a no mans land.

As far as leadership goes, we have 2-3 highly active co's that i could see stepping up wanting to run a second clan. I dont think lack of leadership would be a problem. The main problem i would see is the transitioning phase to start a second clan. All players want a chatty atmosphere. And honestly we have achieved that in our main clan recently 1-2 months. Now, chat box is always active and we happen to decline a few solid looking recruits due to being at max capacity.

Any ideas on fluently creating a second clan?

We have a similar setup with a clan at 50 ppl and about 20 in war.

What we did a few months ago and will do again in a week is run a mandatory 50 v 50 war.

Now people can opt out, but they need to leave the clan to do so (they can go hang out in our sister clan). Once everyone has been in a war, they are more inclined to stay opted in.

Now, you need to be organised. We sent out the mails warning of this to give everyone a week lead time to avoid hero upgrades etc... We will send out more mails as we get closer. 24 hours before war start everyone MUST change their war status to opted in. If not, we will kick (and invite) and tell them the war is mandatory. Then we bring in people from sister clan or recruits to fill clan. Lastly we bring the alts (if required) to make up the numbers.

I recommend that you think hard before mixing up your clan identity. People tend to stay together because they share the same style of play in game. Once you start mixing identity, you will see drama more often. You first drama has already started, which is your regular warriors want bigger organized wars at the expense of your regular farmers. There is already a split within the clan. Your best choice is to split the clan into strictly farming and strictly warring clans. Forcing people into wars wouldn't accomplish anything in the long run. When you force people to change the way they play the game, you are basically speeding up their decision to leave. There too many clans out there that even the most loyal players will one day leave. Don't take it too personal. Decide where your clan is heading and keep only the people who share the same goal.

Interesting what you say about wars. We have 20+ and often have to do 10v10 wars, but I this and we have still managed to climb the clan lvls to nearly 6.

I find that most skip wars because of heros upgrading. The only things that I can suggest is to make sure when recruiting that you state you are a war clan up front. I don't mind farmers in the clan that don't war, so long as they are active. The other thing that is obvious but you might not be happy to do, is to keep track of those that do and don't make themselves available for war and if any are hardly ever, kick them and make sure the clan know why.

Why do you want to make sure members are adults? Just kick those that aren't mature in their behaviour. But if you really want to be sure, I heard once on global that one clan asked how old they were and what year they were born and if they didn't answer quick enough, they didn't let them stay. Apparently the kids weren't quick at working it out!

My experience has been that usually if you ask people there age first they'll just tell you. I'd say ask before you say you are adults only, or they'd be more likely to make up their age.

I have subscribed to this thread. We made the transition from a farming clan that warred once a week to a 3x weekly war clan. I started by asking my clanmates in advance what they thought about adding a second war and eventually a third. After getting enough interest, we added a second war on Monday to our regular Thursday war. Then after two weeks of twice weekly war (and wins along the way) I added the third war on Saturday to the rotation, leaving Wednesdays off to keep the original Thursday war in tact.

Our Thursday war was the big one, where I wanted the most participation. Monday wars started as a "practice" war to work on new strategies and get us out of the dragon rut at TH8. Once we started winning them, I added the third war.

I'm very interested in how to get more folks who have the three star mentality, especially at TH9. Best of luck to you and yours, I'm rooting for you (unless we match up in a war ;) )!
