Yeah was thinking the same thing. You can kill a dragon with 20 archers anyway so in this instance the poison was pretty much redundant.

It now allows low hp troops to be as effective as higher hp troops. Before, a max poison spell would kill a max wizzy in like 4 secs. Now it takes at least double that maybe more. But now you can also kill a high HP troop, just takes more time. So you can make a decision on what to put in your CC and not have like 3 troops to choose from, like before. I love it, hate the war cc anyways.
Ive been using the spell in champs since the update and there are a lot of bases here that still have max wiz and archers in. Poison still works fine because although the troops take a while to die they are slowed down so much they stay in its circumference until they die. Their attack speed is also slowed so much they never get a shot off. I really haven't noticed much of a nerf tbh.
Edit: Im talking about dropping it in their path, not luring them into a group.
This really depends on the path your hogs are taking now. I was a fan of using the old poison to kill skeletons chasing my hogs and as long as you dropped on them centrally it would take them out no problem. With the new poison, on my recent hog attack I dropped it like I normally would, but my hogs destroyed the defense they were working on and had to move a fairly large distance and most of the skeletons made it out of the poison AoE with a sliver of health.
You just have to be more aware of when you're dropping it for trap skeletons. Just drop it over the next defense your hogs are moving to, rather than directly on the skeletons themselves.
Before the update my Th8 ran
1 Valk, 1 Wiz, 2 loons, 3 gobs
Worked great. Not sure if I'd still do 2 loons as the new poison spell had a serious buff vs those.
Explanation: These units all have various speeds and 3 of them have splash. Bunching them up is a pain. The goblins further complicate this because a single archer or wizard will die before it ever attacks said goblins. This means bunching them up is extra painful.
My Th10 ran something similar but didnt' seem as effective vs Th10.
So Trying 1 witch, 1 wiz, 1 valk, 1 loons, 4 Goblins, 1 Minion
Similar theory - poison change should greatly benefit the witch. Not sure if Gobs/minion are necessary. Most th10 don't lure anyway
You keep forgetting one thing. Poison now decease attack rate on troops affected. Lvl 1 35% and goes up to 50% at level 4. So its more like buff all in all.
Skellies seem to die even they just run under poison as poison does dmg few seconds afterwards also.
I don't care for it much before or after the update. The cc is next to useless now.
