Clan war matching

Hi,

please help, my clan are suffering very bad war matches repeatedly! They are becoming very disheartened. We are a level4 clan (trying to get to 5 for the troop upgrade perk!) we have declared war today and the opposition team are far stronger than us. I was under the impression that factors such as defences were part of the selection process? Well comparing their top guy with mine (and all the way down the clan) they have higher EVERYTHING (at least 2 levels higher defences)than us - they are also a lol 7 clan -3 levels higher what a joke! They have 7 players over lol 100 - I know player level isn't a factor but the higher your level the more loot you have collected therefore the stronger your base! So to a clan leader this is a massive point! I have no lvl 100 players!!!

I find it it heartbreaking every time I declare knowing we have little or no chance of a win! I've tried the old declare and wait 5 mins cancel and repeat and doesn't make a difference!

Higher player level does not necessarily equate to more looting or stronger base- they could simply be heavy donators. You can gem your base to maxed and be sitting 30 levels below another player that doesn't. Forget about player level.

If your clan is repeatedly getting outmatched- it is an issue with your clan. Either you have rushed your bases, neglecting troop levels and heroes, or your TH balance is way out of wack. You cannot have TH9s with bows and Th10s with infernos, yet hero levels in the teens and purple walls- you won't be very successful in wars.

Too many players rush their defensive upgrades. This leads to tough mirror matches that 95% of the CoC community can't 3 star. If you focus on learning how to attack, slow your defensive upgrades and focus on offense all these mismatch posts would go away. Well, probably not because attack skill is rare.:p

also vast spreads of th levels can and will lead to mismatches. better to keep your party th levels within 2 ranks (ie 5-7. 6-8. 7-9, etc)

We've had quite a few 'mismatches' recently... But as it turns out, where the other clan have stronger defenses, we had way stronger attacking strength.

Guess which side won ;)

Premmie bases seem to attract mismatches more often too, maybe some upgrades would help?

If you guys are still level 4, you either don't war much or don't win much. Player level means almost nothing. Clan level 5 us a bonus, but that's it.

We just faced a clan with an extra th10(2 to our 1) and an extra th9. The first th10 was completely maxed with max heroes and troops. I'm the top th10 and I still have some th9 defenses and level 2 infernos, but high 30s heroes.

Well we won the war, after I thought it was going to be impossible. We tied, but had a higher % destruction lol! Just do your best. I've seen other clans that look so tough, but they just gowipe for two stars and don't even get that sometimes.

Also, remember not to let your defenses get ahead of your offense. Nothing worse than a th9/10, with max d and low to mid teens heroes.

This has not been my experience.

We rarely have significant mismatches, but our clan is composed of a mixture ranging from 1 TH10 down to 1 TH4.

More of us are TH9 & TH8 than anything else, but every war we have had 1 TH10, and every war we have had at least one (usually more) at TH6 or below.

Mismatches are more than often caused by premmie/rushed/defense over offense accounts, OR the war search took too long, OR very weird TH breakdown. Snce you said u get mismatched repeatedly it's probably the first or third option

OP - if you want advice, tell us your clan tag, and the names of your top few players and the same for your current opponent and we can maybe advise.

The advice on this thread is good, but no-one can really say what applies to your clan without seeing it.

I pulled up your clan. I stopped after looking at your first two THs.

The first one is a TH9 with 6/5 hero levels, pink walls and (of course) xbows. Second base is a TH9, lvl5 King, no AQ, no golem, purple walls...and yes- XBOWS.

You've rushed your THs in a bad way. You offense is not at all where it should be for your TH levels. I don't need to see any other bases to make the assessment. You probably need to keep your TH9s out of war until they have caught up their hero and troop levels. Any TH8s that are badly rushed- should be held out of war for a while as well, until they get their troops and hero levels upgraded.

You should have a balanced approach, don't neglect your offense. Don't be in a rush to upgrade your TH levels. Putting xbows down increases your war weight significantly, thereby bringing in clan that will have them as well- and probably better walls, troops and/or defenses to go along with them.

They all 3 look like quite "new" TH9s with low-ish heroes and all with xbows built so your chance on bringing opponents with much higher heroes/troops is quite high.
And most of you have upgraded only farm troops and ignored max loons, hogs, golems.

Nothing too bad just upgrade those war troops and heroes lol

That guy with level 5 BK at TH9 especially

OP, for the largest part, the matching system tries to line you up with a group that has comparable defensive strength. If you have weaker offense than most clans with a comparable defensive strength (and it sounds like that is the case), expect to lose frequently. I know it is difficult to resist the natural temptation to build every defense as soon as possible (especially when you get cleaned out a couple of times), but you are better off in wars if you do. A good rule of thumb to use is that you should not build a defense if your base with that new defense would be a base you could not successfully attack in war.

Take a war holiday for everyone who hasn't managed to get say 8 stars over the last 2 wars and have them do nothing but work on troops, camps, spells, and attack practice for as long as it takes to make a significant improvement. Your TH7/8 crowd with dragons and hogs can keep doing smaller wars to keep the clan XP coming in. Hopefully they are easily sweeping their opponents or you really have problems!

Thank you all very much for taking the time to give me some advice/pointers. it really is appreciated. Like everyone the clan wants to win wars and we have an eager bunch of guys and gals, hopefully I can get them to a position where we can win a war or two 😊😊

In our clan we have done very well (just lost 1 war after 15 run winning streak) since I implemented (and everyone agreed to) some tough rules on th9.

Once someone upgrades to th9, they cannot war until they have:
1) The AQ
2) 2 army camps upgraded (and the others in the pipeline)
3) CC upgraded
4) Spell factory

Most of our peeps wait until AQ is at lvl 5 to join war and some upgrade all the camps as well. That's up to them. I discourage building the x-bow early, but I don't ban it. I would also never let someone upgrade to th9 with a lvl 5 BK. Just NO.

These rules make sure that people have the offence needed to war effectively at th9.

Because if your top messes up, no-one can cover for them.

Thx for the tips people , some wars we are quite outmatched . I can understand why a bit better now. Since we all seem to upgrade defences at new THs asap while trying to get attacking troops up . Have since totally stopped upgrading defences and use gold for walls, farm for DE and elixir . This was much more helpful than some comments... AKA " quit the game, leave storages out, funnel, you suck... And so forth ... Again thx 😊
