1 Earthquake lvl 1 and 2 Lightning level 5 take out Air Defense level 6

With the new update both Earthquake and Lightning (level 5&6) deal more damage.
The sum of 2 Lightning level 5 and 1 Earthquake level 1 is 1047 damage. While a level 6 Air Defense is 1050 i thought i'd try to destroy a level 6 AD with this combination before upgrading Earthquake. And it worked.
This is a huge buff considering it opens up 1 slot in the spell factory giving you room to bring an extra Rage spell (or Heal). So meaning Massdrag just gained a big buff.

I recorded a raid with the spells taking out an Air Defense. And i did a Clan War attack using this strat while coming in from the "best" side for AD's while the Air Sweeper was covering that area. Forget to turn down the music, so haters... bare with me.

Well, i guess it does. Taken it to the limit while pushing thru an Air Sweeper. Worked just fine.

I thought the damage calculation of the earthquake spell is correct now. It seems upgrading earthquake is useless once again. This makes no sense at all.

Here is my calculation how many hitpoints you can destroy with each level (top block). The bottom block shows which level of ad you can take down with it.

2 quakes lvl5 do 900 damage so the earthquake must have reduced the life from 1050 to at least 900 (14.3%).

Ha anyone tried 2 lighning lvl5 + quake 2 on ad lvl7 yet? This also seems to be close. If this also works, there is no need for lightning lvl6 as long as you dont hit th10s with max ads and have earthquake at lvl2 (which is rather cheap).

Your table is off. At least, if you get a quake level 1 on a building with 1050HP you get this: 1050 * 0,14 = 147.
So 2x Lightning level 5 = 900.
147 + 900 = 1047. While 1047 is NOT 1050 hp it does destroy a level 6 AD.

If 2 ad are within eq radius for th9, you can take them both out leaving a potentially easy laloon(ion) attack. Only need 2 or 3 lavas to tank the 2 ad

You are right. It seems I made a mistake with quake lvl1 and calculated it with only 13%.

Or you could do a dragon attack. With only 2 ads remaining it should be possible with 11 dragons lvl4 and a hound in the cc.
Also note that at th10 you can use 2 max lightning spells alone to kill a lvl7 ad, so hitting down on th9s will get much easier. You dont even need high heroes for that. 12 dragons lvl5 and 1 hound in the cc while still carrying 1 rage and a 1 slot spell (maybe a haste for loons to catch up) will be more than enough for only 2 ads remaining. Maybe not maxing heroes and going to th10 instead may be the better choice or at least an option that makes sense.

The real pain about th9 base layouts is this:
The earthquake spell has a diameter of 8 and ads are 3 tiles wide wide with a range of 10. If you place your ads so far apart, this means they are not covering each other, which will be an easy cold blooded GoLaLoon. If you zap 1 ad away and kill the other one with wall breakers instead of a jump (because it is so far outside), you end up with 4 hounds left on 2 ads with 2 rage spells or 1 rage/2 haste.

Level 1 quake does 14.5% damage.

Level 1 quake on level 11 cannon: 1060 HP ---> 906 HP (14.53% damage)
Level 1 quake on level 12 gold mine: 960 HP ---> 820 HP (14.58% damage)

From the game. I posted the exact HP numbers I got from the game.

I attacked a base, dropped some EQs and then visited the base. The damage done to the base during the attack remains, so I can check the "Info" for buildings and write down their exact HP after getting hit by an EQ.

Lesson of the day: Never trust anything SC tells you.

Hhm interesting idea. I think I will check that with lvl2 earthquake. It would be nice if somebody with earthquake lvl3 and 4 could do it as well.

Edit: I can confirm that earthquake lvl2 + lightning lvl5 will not work on lvl7 ads.

Update: I tried an earthquake on a mine, but when visiting it still shows full health so either it does not get updated or the owner was watching the attack and was online.
I have found a better method: Drop an earthquake on the th (take the same th level or above to not get loot penalty). This resulted in 167 loot for earthquake lvl2 so it is 16,7%.

Hmmm. In my current war I'm faced with a TH9 with 3 level 6 ADs surrounding the CC. It looks like I should be able to easily take out 2 of those, right? That would be sweet!

Guys, upgrading an earthquake spell is a total waste of time. I don't understand how 4 level1 earthquake w/ a total damage of only 56% can destroy even a max wall & 3 level3 earthquake w/ a total damage of 63% can not do the same damage on any level of wall. This is insane!!!

Guys, upgrading an earthquake spell is a total waste of time. I don't understand how 4 level1 earthquake w/ a total damage of only 56% can destroy even a max wall & 3 level3 earthquake w/ a total damage of 63% can not do the same damage on any level of wall. This is insane!!!

TO deal with this

Just put your a.d far away from each other. And this tactic does NOT usuallly get 3 stars again a solid th8 with a good base. Also there is an air sweeper which can destroy a dragon raid if it is not taken seriously. So defense and offense both got +1 buff. So there is not reason to nerf dragons now.

Still ZapQuake + Rage (or Heal) is better then 3 Lightning and 1 Poison. Massdrag has various setups to deal with different bases. Spread the AD's and Balloons will become a thread. Theres always a solution to 3 star a TH8 as a TH8, not being Massdrag perse. In general this does make Massdrag better, while no one is claiming for a nerf.

If I'm doing my math right, 3 level 5 lightning and 1 level 1 quake should take out a level 1 inferno tower, right?

(1500 * 14.5%) = 217.5 + 3 * 450 = 1567

I'm faced with a very rushed TH10 in war with very low defenses, but with 2 level 1 inferno towers. I think it might be safest to use the spells to take out one of the inferno towers to reduce the risk.

This is gonna sound quite lazy but could you also do this chart including 4 and 5 lightning spells please. This is the best explanation for the zapquake ive found and it would be great to know the damage output for 4 and 5 lightning spells with and without the quake

just looked at the video and zoomed, that's only a lvl 5 ad. You have to upgrade to lvl 2 quake to get the lvl 6 ad

Zap quake is too delightful to ignore. I had seen gadihh videos where they used double zapquake queen walk mass dragon to 3 star a th9 almost maxed.

Oh, Lol it is wrong ! It seems that your table is off ! You must not to add damage of 4 EQ spells together one by one , 14%+14%+14%+14%=56% . Lol. It is wrong way . Because it is depended with Target HP. For example , if your target building has 100hp , in a true way ,you can calculat total damages like below: at the first EQ dropping , Hit point of target decresed to 86 . (100-(100*%14)). In the second dropping , it goes to 73.96(86-(86*%14)),in the next dropping it goes to 63.60.(73.96-(73.96*%14)). And finaly , after 4th EQ spell dropping , the target HP goes to 54.70 (63.60-(63.60*%14)). It shows total damage to a target building with 100 HP, is only 45.30, Then it is a wrong calculation if you add any EQ damage percetage with together one by one , %14+%14+%14+%14=%56 × 100HP =56 total damage,but it is wrong, because total damage for 100HP target building is calculated 45.30 .

No, lvl max earthquick doesn't need, with 2lighting lvl5, only a lvl3 earthquick ineeded.
