Finding it difficult to recruit communicative team players

Just curious if the community is also having these issues or if we are just struggling. Our clan has been together for a year now and recently been trying to recruit some funny, smart, communicative, war loving, and team players. However, recently we just haven't been finding people who seem to mesh well with us.

Seems that we have problems with new recruits on following simple rules set forth in our recruit thread. We clearly state that we are a war clan, that we want like minded people, that we have restrictions for TH levels, and that we require a mock war attack upon admittance. All of these are very common rules, many clans ask these things. That being said people join, and then want in war right away. ok. so share your qualifying war attack. They either then act confused and admit they didn't read the full recruitment post, or they go out attack someone for 1* 50% with a barch army and assume that qualifies them for war. ummm.. is that how you attack in war? Then no, you need to show us you can pull a CC, create a funnel, use spells. You know, the fundamentals to war attacks. Go try again. Either that or they came into the clan all excited to be here, say where they were from etc. then POOF they go silent, opt out of war, and when you ask them about their mock attacks and warring, they either ignore you or say "I'm upgrading heroes". Ok. Great! But you joined a war clan, who clearly states, you need to share a replay upon admittance and that we war. Heck, even a shout out when they join the clan, "my AQ is upgrading, is it ok if I share a replay next week when she finishes?" would be great. We are a patient and understanding group and would be ok with that.

So when we boot these recruits they get mad and pop in on our chat app asking why they were booted and ask why we booted them. So moral of the story? Most of our recruits in the last 6 months haven't worked out well for us since people don't seem to follow our rules/guidelines and don't communicate.

Anyone else having these problems ? Maybe if we were relaxed and just took anyone and didn't care, then it would be ok??

While we actually are a relaxed war clan, we still do have our rules and I can definitely sympathize with you on the whole "people not reading clan description" thing. In my experience I don't think most people bother reading the clan description either, which makes it difficult since you'd think that'd be the first thing people do when considering a clan, or at least right after joining. I may be able to share a few insights though:

First, assume they haven't read the clan description. Early on after people join, make sure they know what the rules are.

Second, assume they don't understand the rules. Not everybody will understand what you want for a mock war attack, so make sure they understand that you want them to prepare an army as they would for a war attack, find a suitable base, and share the replay of their attack. Really break it down for them so they can't not understand.

Finally, if you're going to kick someone, be clear, but be kind. Explain why they're being kicked and then wish them luck finding a clan that will be a better fit--it'll help soften the blow so they're not as likely to get mad and want to come complaining.

No matter what you do though, this is an anonymous, online game. People feel safer being rude and so, sadly, you'll still find those that are. Hopefully I was able to give you some ideas to help lessen that problem, though. :)

Lett is completely right, people don't even look at the clan description. Ours, for instance, says that we use a communication app that you have to download upon joining in order to war with us. Yet just today when I told a new recruit this( he had been there a day, sometimes its hard to track them down to speak with them about these things..) he replied with one word: Why?. Then without waiting for a response of any kind left the clan, lol. I think the solution to this is to simply lower your expectations as far as how many recruits actually are gonna stick around for any length of time to contribute.

yea we have all kinds of problems with them reading the clan description, clan recruiting, etc. We try to tell them when they come into the clan the rules and that they need to share a mock attack etc. but it's like they forget. We usually ask them 3-4 times over the course of the first week or so they are in the clan, calling them out in our chat app, trying to catch them in clan chat, but they end up non-responsive. It's rather depressing to try and recruit, because you know not everyone is like that, but seems you get more bad than good?

It's honestly one of the worst parts of running in a clan. Try as you might it's really just a matter of luck if you'll find the right people. Just have to have a thick skin and keep trying. I really think having a constant flow of new members (or at least constantly trying) is key to having a good clan experience. It's good to have a solid core, but without getting in some fresh blood things can get stale.

Wow, you guys give your new recruits a whole week to actually acknowledge the rules?! We give them 1-2 wars before one of the leaders gets annoyed at being repeatedly ignored and kicks them. We have the same problem, it's sooo hard to keep players that join as well as find new members that have something to offer. I think supercell should let us have incentives for players that stay in a clan, no idea what kind but some kind of in clan league would be cool. Titles like elder and co are great but what do you get with title?

1. Invite only. Then u can check their heroes before accepting
2. Give them a proper welcome message in game chat with all the rules
3. Kick those who don't follow the rules

Most players in this game come and go. They lose interest pretty fast. So it's important to continue recruiting to replace those that go inactive, don't follow the rules, or just plain leave. I try to be a good example, share replays, welcome new members, regularly chat, etc. It's a lot of work keeping a clan alive. And even if you work at it, you'll go through periods where you have a losing streak or a couple of the good guys leave.

BTW, this is true running any clan. I also play WoT and am a member of a clan. The clan scheduled a series of clan war battles where you need 15 players to show up at a specific time. We have 87 members and about 20+ were online. Only 7 of us showed up. Same kind of thing -- you have members and they might even be good players, but if they don't show up, what's the point?

We as clan leaders can only hope that the upcoming big update in October will address some of these issues .. If they don't improve the ability to better retain good clan members and better weed out the bad ones, this game will not survive,, It all depends on where there core profits coming from, the 8 to 15 yr old range or the 20 to 40 yr old range ,, You gotta believe the 8 yr olds are not pouring that much money into this game,,

This game as far as running a clan is concerned was way better before the clan levels came out,,
