Hey, you aren't forced to do the quests :P

Um what changes? I've stopped playing clash waiting for quests because I'm absolutely tired of the grind to th9, and didnt want to start on th10 knowing damn well how much effort I'd need to put into it because it's what we've been doing ALL game.
"Farming" = Grinding
Grinding in games = Fun then the inevitable Boredom.
Games require grinding to do a few things like:
1. Get you to invest time into their game
2. Seperate the dedicated from the occassional gamer
3. Make those who reach end game feel like they earned it.
However the grind is also one of the biggest reasons why players will lose interest. The end game is what keeps players. Just need a balance on how long of a grind you should be required to do. Currently with no other means of obtaining those resources the grind is just becoming longer and longer with each new update.
Please read the thread again (yes it's long but oh well), it isnt a system to force you into playing a certain way. Instead it just provides incentives to try a few different things/ attempt difficult tasks.
Just answering about myself, not for the guy you quoted; I personally don't think that quests add anything that the game needs. There's no depth in them, they give you no permanent stuff or things you really want except the things from the wheel of riches; and even then, collectors are meh, battle bonuses are a horrible idea since we have clan wars now (they would become pay2win, basically) and resources are probably nothing compared to what you could've farmed if you ignored quests. Sure you could balance all that stuff and make it so they can give you really good stuff... but do you really want to rely on a wheel to be able to max your base?
I'd much rather the devs focusing on other than just side stuff. If they really add quests (which i doubt, but everything can happen) I'll be fine with it. It's just that i can't see how could they get you back into the game for more than 2 months, just about the time before they start looping :p or you get 3 impossible/annoying monthly quests in a row (revenge 80 bases-barb king destroys 70 clans castles-only allow your pumps/mines to get destroyed 140 times during 21 days, mind that these are only examples, but i'm pretty sure that there will be that quest that will make you think "oh, not THIS again!").
That's my view on quests. They sound really fun, but you need to think forward to make sure that they actually are what you want. From someone that used to support the idea.
I personally like the idea of quests, maybe just one per day or even one per week. It would distract me from my usual farming since that's 99% what I do.
Mastermind's idea is well written and all the edited images are awesome but there are a few things I don't like:
first off the makes some quests for example four hours long... I wouldn't like to lose a quest because it comes at 2AM and ends at 6AM. That's why I'd rather have one every 24hrs
secondly his spinning wheel idea is very overpowered, i'd generally remove that completely
Love the idea of being awarded specific statues, I hope some part of this makes it into the game.
They are a lame idea only the ultra geeks who play this game 24/7 want to add on...

Considering Quests were almost implemented but Clan Wars got a higher vote by the Clash team and It's been ages since Clan Wars was introduced, it's entirely plausible to think They'll add it and quite possibly soon.
Yes I can farm 100k DE a day non boosted and be bored out of my mind for hours on end, in fact I've done it before. But this is still a GAME, games are meant to be fun, and grinding is not fun. I'm not hoping for a "oh boy I can do these quests and make as much as I did farming" type of thing. Just a, eh I don't feel like spending 8+ hours on clash today but still want to accomplish something. A few big raids a day accomplishes so little if thats all you can do since you'd most likely lose a huge chunk of resourse throughout the day.
Over the past couple of years, the many many nights of grinding, I am officially tired of "next next next next next next attack next next next" it's not hard to do and it should always be the more efficient way to gain resources. But OMG it's sooo boring. Impossible quests will obviously be balanced so I don't worry much on those.
I'm not sure of your gaming background but if you ever played the old RuneScape, they had a lot of absolute complete waste of time skills and quests. And I did them because I got bored of their other aspects of the game. I'd go back to the main game but loved having the option to work on farming, building my house, fishing whatever I pleased just to take my mind off the grind.
