Upgrade Priority: Witches lvl 2 or go crazy on Heroes?

the question (please provide the why):
should i upgrade my witches to lvl 2 next or just raid DE and upgrade my heroes to like 20 or so?

background:
i do gohowiwi for wars and i farm like crazy with barch..

BK and AQ are level 10. i have hogs, heal, rage, and jump maxed. golems about to be level 4.



any input would be great, thanks!

I had the same question...not necessarily an easy one

Ultimately, I ended up going with witches first. Why? Because taking AQ (& BK for that matter) to L30 takes some serious time. I rationalized that I might as well get my witches out of the way now and get the benefit in wars of that from "X" point moving forward rather than use L1 witches until....whenever.

Max dark troops and then focus at heroes.

Too bad I already dropped 40,000 DE on my BK to upgrade him to level 10.. :facepalm: I wish I would've read something similar to this when I was considering my options. I have yet to upgrade my hogs to level 4, which is quintessential for any type of attack strategy including hogs at TH8. At least, now that I have him out of the way, I can focus my DE expenditures on upgrading my DE troops.

Quick question: Is there a particular order I should follow when upgrading my DE troops? I know, in essence, I'm going off-topic with my question, but I couldn't see opening an entirely new thread to ask this question, so.. Please don't hate me. :rolleyes:

LOL, yeah, hogs to L4 is a very, very high priority at TH8. Even though the upgrade from L9 BK to L10 BK is significant, L4 hogs should have been done a long time ago...

In my mind, at TH8, DE should be first spent on hogs, no question. Golem next, no question. Poison, Valks, Minions, EQ should all come way later.

First upgrade what you use the most. Pretty simple.
Heroes get used pretty much whenever they are available which is why so many people focus on them. Do your elixir upgrades for troops you use regularly first while you upgrade heroes.

Thank you for the insight and prompt response! Recently, I decided to upgrade (;)) from a casual to a serious "clasher". Which means, prior to a few days ago, I wasn't aware of the heaps of information available regarding Clash of Clans. :facepalm:XD

Troops you consistently use in wars are ALWAYS better upgrades than heroes.. Look at the stat difference for both, it's not even a question.

Bad arguments like this ignore the very small upgrades heroes get and the very large cost compared to the very small cost and very very large statistical benefit that troops get when you upgrade them, multiplied by however many troops you bring.

Would you rather have max troops and level 1 heroes or max heroes and level 1 troops? Exactly.

You missed the point. My response started with "First upgrade what you use the most. Pretty simple"
So if you farm more than you war, upgrade those troops first. This increases your income so you can upgrade more and faster. Most farming compositions are elixir heavy, so do those troops first and heroes at same time. Once you've done the elixir troops you use a lot, THEN upgrade dark troops.
Bad arguments like yours result in result in lower heroes and less successful attacks.

Successful attacks come from high level dark troops. EFFICIENT farming raids come from higher level gibarch.

If you are efficient first, you will be more successful later as you have enough resources to upgrade those dark troops AND heroes at the same time.
Upgrading dark troops first will result in slower farming and upgrading.
You might get a few more war stars early on, but once both methods have maxed dark troops, my method will also have higher level heroes and be more SUCCESSFUL.

About the only elixir troop I needed to upgrade to farm successfully was giant (& I'd put loon up there as well, it just depends on how you like to farm). Screw archer and barb, at least for me. Yes, I'm probably in the minority, but barch just made no difference in my style in the slightest.

Not at all, I farm with loonion and clean up all the DE and gold I want. Sure, yours is better for farming, but I couldn't care less about farming, my answers are 100% for war. If you're asking about maxing your witches, you're clearly asking about war. Your way will be far less successful for war. Obviously, if you max dark troops second your heroes will be maxed by the time you max your dark troops, but if you max your dark troops first your total war stars while at TH9 will be FAR higher.

If you have better farming troops, it's pretty easy to upgrade heroes and troops at the same time. I never said to max the heroes first, only to prioritise them.

Prioritize is vague. How exactly does one prioritize them?

Make no mistake, I think heroes are very, very, important, but it's painful how to navigate through what to upgrade.

Giants6
Loons6
Jump2
Archers6

Currently Working:
Hogs5

Bk10
Aq7
(Going to get queen to 15 in between troops upgrading)

So after hogs I'm up against Golems3 or Witch2, leaning towards witches but I don't use them that much for war, bit golem3 only gives 500hp.

What do you guys think?

OP I would go ahead and get the witches out the way and then prioritize heroes. if you farm DE hardcore you can stagger hero upgrades and DE upgrades efficiently. And if you haven't done so already max the de drills every bit helps. Good luck

I would go golem 3 then golem 4. It makes a big difference for them to be able to soak up a lot more damage. I'm finding my lvl 2 to be inadequate lately. Plus golems are in most th9 3 star strats so you want those big boys to last longer

And it isn't even close.

Witches are a distant...not even 2nd...to L4 Golem. L4 Golem is, perhaps, the single most important upgrade to make at TH9, as substantially all ground attacks start with a golem. Even if you love lavaloon (which I do!), you STILL use golems in cold-blooded or shattered attacks.

Oh, 500hp per golem is very significant, to say nothing about 1,000. Those are very valuable seconds before popping...

CC the max golem and get the hounds to two if laloon is your focus.

It depends on what you use and prioritize more.

However, I would upgrade heroes because of the abilities at lvl15+ heroes. Plus, heroes are an essential component of farming armies, trophy pushing armies, and war armies.

You have plenty of time do do heroes in one grind for them just get the troops done with !

thank you for the input..i'm upgrading my AQ right now to lvl 11 and stacking up to get the 75K DE for my Witches (which I'll have by the time Golem lvl4 finishes)
