Fireworks in a wooden bucket?

With all the technological advances in weaponry, why do the villagers still only use what appears to be bottle rockets in a wooden structure? You would think one dragon attack alone would leave the buckets burning from rocket fire... Don't they notice this during every rebuild? It's like people who rebuild their houses in a disaster area....

With gold and carbon fiber turrets, bedazzled Archer towers, giant jewel walls... I just don't get wood.
