Main reason why people quit.

Lots of people I know play clash or used to. One thing they all had in mutual was the frustration with walls and hero levels and costs. Although all contributed to there exit, walls were the most annoying thing for them. As most of them were town hall 8, I feel town hall8s should have the opportunity to do walls with elixir. I'm a new town hall 9 and I maxed everything out in town hall 8, but not everyone has that patience.
At least 1 day a week a town hall 8 should be able to spend elixir on walls alongside gold to make the process faster and not get bored of the game.

If TH8 get lix walls why not TH7s? If TH7s why not TH6? It would speed up the process for anyone not just high THs. Remember the lix famine? SC has the stats and I believe they made the right decision.

If a player doesn't have the patience to finish TH8 then that player is going to quit long before they get to a decent TH10 level and there is nothing that will change that

I just got fed up with walls and upgraded my th, then i had fun again

Valid points, patience is the main attribute about this game however just doing walls day in day out as a punishment for maxing out defences just doesn't cut it for me, especially for people who are busy studying or whatever.

Town hall 7 and 6 is a fast process and 200k a wall is not hard at all. My friend just maxed out town hall 7 and he enjoyed every way of it, I feel sorry for him knowing his patience is still to be tested with the skulls.

RL stuffs and laziness.

I have to say I didn't struggle with walls until I started doing Lavas and that is indeed slow going. However I view them as a slow side attraction to clan wars and raids not a 'must have by Friday' upgrade. If a player doesn't have the mind set for this kind of game (and it isn't for everyone) then there is little that can be done about that IMHO :smirk:

its very easy to make people quit clash, just introduce wall level 12 and all hell breaks lose.....

I agree but not everyone has the time to put their full attention and focus into walls, it just doesn't click with everyone. Especially when 4 earthquake spells takes out 15, it kinda vanishes the point in doing them for some people.

I have been gaming a verrryyy long time. The pattern of player involvement in CoC is no different to any other game.

People stop playing a particular game because something else catches their attention. It’s easy to suggest one or two things are the “cause” and tweaking them may hold people’s attention a little bit longer, but the reality is that time itself is the enemy of all past-times.

Not time involved in the activity itself, but duration from a person’s first introduction to when they give up. People lose interest.

Gamers rarely stop gaming but almost always look for new games. That is what you have seen. Nothing more really.

Tweaks for the sake of retaining a few players, just risks the dymanics of the game for a small potential gain in player retention.

Some games are not for everybody, if they ran out of patience at TH8 then there was never any chance of them getting to TH10

No.... More than the walls it's the coat of defence and hero's upgrades which make people quit...

The costs are so high that a casual player cannot cope up with it... And not everyone has whole day for COC... People's have job, people's have family... People's have study...

If you are going to quit the game due getting bored with doing level 8 walls (which are easy) you might as well quit now as when you come to do lvl 10/11 walls you will defo quit.

There is a reason why they say patience is a virtue. Should you decide to quit, please leave your storages, TH and collectors outside your base.

If you don't have the patience to do full skulls at TH8 and are put off by the new earthquake spell then the simple advice is don't bother.

I would say that back when I was raiding, a lot less than 25% of the TH8s and 9s had full skulls or higher walls and the majority of players pretty much stopped wall building with purples and from what I can see in my clan it hasn't seemed to dent their progress in TH9 and 10 by a lot. Heck, there are even players out there who have managed to upgrade their bases with no walls or defences of any kind.

I know that I went to TH9 with all skulls and other than being a bit of a grind as I was in a non-raiding, just logging on to collect resources mood, that it wasn't actually all that bad. I am currently in that position again and with a TH in the corner and logging on a couple of times a day to empty collectors then I am still slowly grinding my way through lego walls alongside finishing off upgrading AT's and finishing off lab upgrades.

Perhaps, however these guys have themselves blamed it on the walls and I think something pretty minor in the game shouldn't be the reason for them to quit this game especially when they like the other factors.

The thing is that what you are talking about here is what is know as the 'straw that broke the camels back'. They may be blaming it on just the walls taking such a long time/being a big drain on resources but there will almost certainly be other factors involved here not just the walls.

As I said in my previous post it is entirely possible to max out skull walls without needing to play for large chunks of time. With maxed collectors you/they could be doing one wall a day without any need for raiding.

If they get bored at TH8 probably they must quit the game anyway.

Toughen up princess. If you like the game enough then it won't matter how much walls cost. Level 8 walls are cheap as anyway.

i am th8 almost maxed out buildings and i am really excited going for skulls. when my remaining buildings are maxed (in about a week) i can start trophy hunting, while researching the rest of my troops/upgrading to skulls/doing 3 stars in war. :)
maybe i am gonna stay on th8 a while when i am completely maxed out (also walls and research) just to enjoy it.

if heroes and walls will be cheap everyone would have them so they wouldn't be the most valuable things in game. this is completely nonsense. also it is not the reason why people quit. short time players quit because it happens for all games. long time players quit because game becomes more and more time consuming by the time.

I'd like to add that another common reason is simply to have finished the game. Simple as that. What's the point of flinging birds at green pigs, after I three-starred every single level and found every hidden item?
