Not sure if you are typical or not. At the end of TH8 my gold was always low as I tried to knock out the last few defenses and 500K a pop skull walls. But my elixir and DE were both over 5M & 60K respectively for my last 3 to 5 weeks of TH8 despite raiding almost exclusively for gold.Quote:

I'm TH9 now and typically farm with 16 Giants / 8 wizards / 4 WB the rest Barch and go after DE storages exclusively unless I have an elixir troop/spell in the lab I need to upgrade in which case I BAM the elixir. When I needed elixir I would bring 16 giants 54 barbs 42 archers 8 wb and 6 hogs.
But that was only the initial period. Then the past 6 weeks or so when I was farming de for both heroes and lab upgrades I switched over to 20 giants 54 barbs 42 archers and 12 wb.
I just love how well gibarch works. Keeps my heroes healthy which is key. Obviously there are other options but it's what I prefer.
In th8 I ran what I said in my previous post.
Barch for days
Loonion for de and some gold.
Giants and various other assorted troops occasionally but not my favorite.
End of TH8 I would usually build one power army over night - either GoWiPe, Mass Dragon or Dragloon.
During the day I mostly ran BAM, GiBarch or VaGiBarch unless I knew I couldn't raid often in which case I'd build Dragloonian.
War was either mass dragon, mass hog, GoHo, GoWipe, with occasional weird armies that were base dependent.
God I love to come on the forums for a good laugh reading all these "th8 stuggles post" I am a th9. I have way more de upgrade and gold upgrades than you man. I can't wait to hear how you complain when you upgrade. and gowipe is not the only attack at th8. Maybe try hogging, Govalo, loonian, etc. Go back to boom beach if activity and dedication to a game is to intense for ya.

I haven't read all the posts, but struggle at th8? Go for th9 faster! I went nearly maxed, without all my walls done, had about 50 purple entering the th9. Also I was lucky to be playing at the time the elixir walls came up. So that was great, did about 100 of them until it was revoked :P
Point is. If I'd visit forum more, and study game a bit, I would then knew to rush a bit, because I was sitting A LOT of time with elixir 4kk+, and considering earlier acces to aq and ability to pour eli into walls it's great trade. I did not had that option, cause I was learned that "maxing is the way". Well, it's not.
First 10 days(hogs lvl 5 upgrade started) of my th9 elixir wise I did all the camps, lab, sf and unlocked witches. In the same time I was able to do about 50 legos just from elixir. It's really easy to raid th8 with aq and additonal spell at the beggining. Go for th9!
