Good Job Supercell!
You insered an important option that doesn't work.
Maybe have to test before?
Now, with your last update, all players in our NH that don't want to partecipate at the derby are forced IN the derby, so we will sure loose.
And with iPad iOS 5.1.1 the game doesn't start.
GREAT JOB.
always better
We are investigating this! Seems to be working for many but not for all!
Cheers,
Nick
I did not opt out but the derby seems to think I did! More than annoyed! No way I get to play this week. Will hayday fix this! I doubt it! Even if they do I'm excluded by a glitch! Not good hayday.
Anyone else have a member who selected the option to NOT be in the Derby and finds themselves listed as "In the Derby" still ?
They now have no other option than to participate.
Another glitch to deal with !
So what happens for you? You were opted IN when the derby started, correct? If you were opted out, you should have seen a window explaining it to you when you tapped on the Derby stand. Then there was a button to opt in for the NEXT Derby, not for the one that already started!
Cheers,
Nick
I got my daughter to opt out of the Derby and she's still listed as participating. I checked and she has definitely opted out. The horse on her Derby shed is sleeping.
I got my daughter to opt out of the Derby last night. Straight after the update. I just checked and the button is still definitely unchecked. The Derby was not starting for 12 hours so the 'next' Derby was definitely the current one. When she unchecked the box she could see the horse on the Derby s♥♥♥♥ was sleeping. Now when I look at her s♥♥♥♥ he is awake. She is listed as participating in the Derby.
Whats the the point of implementing these changes if they only half work?
Same thing happened to our Hood. Members who opted "out", way before the start, are now IN.
Not happy SC. This wonderful "feature" is now a major PITA. 😤
We have the same problem. People opted OUT and are showing as IN.
I also opted out, I have just started university and I have no time for the derby, but your software says I am opted in and now I am forced to spend valuable study time on stupid tasks or let my hood down, thanks a lot SC, you really need to test this stuff better, my 6 year old can code better than this.
I also opted out hours before the derby started only to find myself now in the derby.
Same here,
2 members told me that they have opted OUT, including the confirmation.
Still, all member are in the derby
We are still investigating! I'll let you all know when we have a solution. Most probably it won't help for this Derby, but should work for the next. Stay tuned!
Cheers,
Nick
We have the same problem, opt out didn't work :(
Just an idea...
Could it be that the short maintenance break we have had after the update has reset the opt in/out to the default value of IN ?
I'm not sure but I think my members made their choice before this maintenance break..... (can't check, they are asleep :-) )
Your neighbour will be opted out for the next derby.
Unfortunately since this is the first derby with the opt out feature in place, the opt out will only apply to future derbies.
Im pretty sure if you click on the settings icon at top left of the game you can find info there.
This has been reported in the bugs section and Nick has said it should be fixed for the next derby.
Yes, we are having the same issue in neighborhood Brigadoon Fields. We know we had opt outs including a new player that just joined the hood but who is now showing in the derby. The player even took a screen shot when they made the change. A real bummer now that we probably won't place well because of it.
My boyfriend and I have the same issue. We opted out of the derby yesterday.. I unchecked myself right after the update. My boyfriend unchecked himself 6 or 7 hour after the update when he got home from work. I checked into my game this morning and the box remains "unchecked" on both our tablets but we are listed as in the derby and we can choose or delete tasks. My neighbours said there was an optional update an hour or so ago but when I go to google play, no update is available. I'm sure it will get sorted out soon but thought I would add my experiences to the list
We are on vacation, cnose opt out for this week. But we are inthe derby. We would have quit and rejoined, but before I went shut down last night, I doublechecked my husbands and my tablets, option definately unche ked.
I am having the same problem on my tablet Andriod version 5.1.1
thank you😃
Two players in our nhood opted out in adv settings yesterday, the off day between derbies. Yet they are in derby, can pick tasks. And they show in derby when look at nhood house. Adv settings still shows opted out.
and Nick, the opt out was made before derby started, was done a day ahead. There is a bug!

Same issue in our NH. Have a member who opted out hours before the derby, & confirmed it with several members. Derby began & she's listed as in derby.
On a side note, while SC may track down & correct this bug, it doesn't help those NHs who are put at a disadvantage because of it. What type of resolution will SC provide for them?
The message from SC is please spend diamonds to get ahead & win fab new prizes, yet when things doesn't work as touted, the best that can be offered is "We're looking into it, Cheers." Seriously?
I suggest in addition to fixing the problem post haste, compensation in the form of diamonds to all those inconvenienced by this as those players were effectively handicapped from the start by a flaw in SC game coding.
Cheers!
I had at least 3 hood member opt out of this derby yesterday. I emphasized to them it had to be done before the derby started. They did so.
And what do we wake up to this morning? It didn't work. I feel like a sucker. And one of them is a real stand-up kinda guy who has decided he will do tasks anyway, for the sake of the hood. And I'm sorry he's doing it. He was skeptical about it in the first place, and was going to leave/rejoin the hood, but I convinced him otherwise.
there's is a consolation in all of this: based on all the outrage I've read here, maybe lots of our competition is similarly afflicted.
Yea, check is in the mail! Nick, seriously these constant errors whenever SC 'fixes' or 'improves' something is not even comical anymore.
You guys had lots of time to test this against different platforms and OS. I know complex software releases do not always go as planned, but these types of mistakes are the kind that I would not expect out of a skilled staff. Clearly something is wrong and needs to be addressed.
Per Nick in the bugs thread, the opt feature should have applied to this derby as well.
We've got a member out of town visiting a relative who doesn't have wi-fi, so before the derby began she opted out & notified us. Imagine our surprise when we saw her listed as participating. Now we're down a player, & not much hope of a top 3 place if the other teams' option feature is in working order.Quote:
We are investigating this! Seems to be working for many but not for all!
Cheers,
Nick
Not really happy about being handicapped in this way when the message from SC is do your best, get ahead for bigger, better prizes...oops, just not some teams because we issued a faulty update. I think SC should compensate affected teams with diamonds. Either insure a fair playing field from the get-go or pay for the inconvenience of not doing so.
Same here - opted out yesterday before derby started and I am still participating today. Ran the additional update hoping it would fix it, but after I did the derby opt-in was CHECKED again. Tried contacting support through the game and it just keeps crashing. :( Glitch city.
Also an issue with our nh. Opted out are in.
We have possibly found out why the Opt in/out didn't work for all players. If it would have been for all, it would have been easier to identify the issue, but since it works for many, but not for all, it gets trickier. The maintenance idea sure was one of our suspicions as well, but wasn't it. :)
Hay Day is a seriously complex game, with both client and server logic. It's not always easy to test each scenario. We did extensive tests and opt in/out worked flawlessly. Now, when we are talking about it the "real world" it becomes way more complex. Thus there's always a risk of some errors. The team is highly skilled and know what they are doing, but whenever we create something which is new to us all, there's a chance that one minor glitch kicks in at an unexpected moment, in an unexpected way.
We will look into this and try to figure out how to avoid such issues in the next Derby. :)
Cheers,
Nick
This is a known issue which we will still continue to investigate. I am so sorry that it didn't work for all of you, but I am confident that we will find out why, and make sure it won't happen again!
ps. please report these kind of issues in the Bugs section, mkay? There's already a couple of threads about this. Thanks!
Cheers,
Nick
Please stay on topic :) The BOT sweep went actually pretty well, but we had a hunch that we may have both missed some bots, and some innocent players got caught. We are dealing with them case by case, and by that learn how to improve it for the next "sweep" (which will happen).
Cheers,
Nick
Our Neighbourhood also has a member who opted out, received the notification she was missing the fun, but is still included.
We did look into it already the whole day and will continue to do so until we are sure it won't happen again. We can't change the opt in/out during a Derby for obvious reasons, but we want to make sure it works as flawlessly as possible for the next Derby!
Cheers,
Nick
Sorry Nick, I have looked at over 200 NH's today, they all show all players participating in Derby. This time last week amongst our opponents 7 had decided not to take part. Funnily enough, not seen one thread where someone has said they opted out and are NOT playing.
So if we are still listed in the derby should we start taking tasks? I'm holiding out on taking tasks in case this gets fixed. I won't leave my NH down 2 players this week.....we opted out because we are so incredibly busy with work and going away for the weekend...
Based on SuperCell Staff member "Nick" the official position is NOTHING can be done for "obvious reasons" (whatever that means). We too had two members check off their intent NOT to participate. However, they too as MANY (not just a few) were NOT allowed to Opt-Out. Leaving the team to compete against neighborhoods that have more players participating then we have. Clearly an unfair advantage to many. So they are rewarded and we are not for doing nothing wrong except following Supercells instructions.
Recommendation:
Supercell should take full responsibility for this and NOT punish those for the clear coding error. Either everyone advances and is rewarded the same prize level or no one should.
I checked with all our members and can confirm that I have one member who definitly checked OUT immediately after the update, before the derby started. Since then she did not started the game and now the checkbox in settings is still unchecked.
She is however in the derby list. (11 members, matched against other hoods with 11 members)
SC: If needed we can give you the farmname, perhaps it can help to figure out what happened?
I take some solace that others are having the same problem, in that our NH had one person opted out before start and got put into derby thus ensuring our demise.
it is just a game though, but is frustrating to lose because of a glitch.
what has been the most frustrating is trying to do in game support, for the past few days I have just been getting back boiler plate answers about how to opt out. Maybe, front line staff should be made aware of this so they can respond intelligently. It is almost like they don't even read my query!
i realize in customer service it is hard but it is not nice to spoken to like an idiot by the staff.
just an idea :)
also hoping supercell can make things right for those of us affected, maybe by not making this round count for advancement or demotion?
We so agree in our nhood that OPT OUT should be the default. Active players can opt in a lot more readily than inactive players will opt out. At worst, active players may be disqualified from one derby, that is it, till they opt in, if the default is changed to opt out.
We want to retain our inactve players; there are not many of them but they are all dear to us. Please SC rethink this!
Best, Barb
I also think the derby opt out should be default.
In our NH two players opted out but are registered as active in the derby, however they cannot play because the derby is closed to them and their horse is sleeping. While others in our NH opted out, but can still play the derby.
I have yet to 'speak' to a PLAYER who thinks that being automatically OPTED IN is a good idea. Players want default to be OPTED OUT. I've no idea why SC are digging their heals in over this, nor the leaders being able to opt players out. (Just add that to the notifications then it's all 'up front')
I have been following this thread since the beginning but I did not see any answer saying this issue is solved.
Is this issue now solved for the next Derby?
There was some maintenance the other day:

Hi Nick,
Our group leader opted out of the derby for a few weeks then opted back in last weekend. When the new derby started, she was still shown as opted out. Is there a way to fix this before next derby starts? She doesn't want another week of not being included. Thanks!
