Getting clan members to chat

So I've had my clan running for a few months now, and except for the first couple of weeks we've been relatively quiet. People still will chat a bit at random times during the day, but it seems hard to get much real conversation going, which I'm pretty sure has caused a few members to leave the clan. The members for the most part participate in wars and in donating, but chat is really hit and miss, depending largely on just happening to have the right members on to start talking and then the right ones to respond. I try to do what I can to get people talking, but I can only do so much. So, any suggestions on how to get clan members more talkative? Is it just a matter of getting the right members on to keep chat going more often?

Blackmail usually works.

You can try and get some friends of members in your clan. That will increase the general level of chat and may coax some folks out of hiding. Our chat is pretty quiet usually too, but we have a few who bring us out into the open :)

Yeah, I've found that to be true, Argat. A sizeable part of our clan is from one person who got their friends irl to join. But they're still relatively quiet, though I've got hope for a few of our newer members to help pick things up.

Start a conversation around which base they want to hit... What troops they like in their cc, etc then you can maybe get em talking and joking around.

Good advice, Sutemi. I've tried that, though my success with it has been variable.

I've had the same problem with new members joining and thinking we're an inactive clan because chat isn't like global.

I think the worst part about that is the people who join, don't say anything after the initial welcoming conversation, then leave because the clan is "inactive" even when there have been requests and war attacks going on, just not conversation.

Start a second account and talk to yourself.

My clan consists of 3 types of people. One group from the US, one from Singapore and the third from the forums. So we just start talking among ourselves and the others chime in and it ends up going huge lol
