Solution to fix messing with clan war system(having advantage over others)

How many times did you get matched with clans playing with clan war system?

Th8.5, TH9.5 or defenseless rushing to TH10 for extra offense. This is giving people advantage in wars and clans to do the same while many members are not comfortable with it.

Here is a simple solution that can be enhanced by your suggestions and ideas. The solution is to make a base weight for each townhall level. Meaning if you rush to townhall 10 you will never have a weight less than th9. So lets say the base weight is like this:

Townhall	Base Weight	Max Weight
1	1000	1500
2	2000	4000
3	3000	7500
4	4000	12000
5	5000	17500
6	6000	24000
7	7000	31500
8	8000	40000
9	9000	49500
10	10000	60000
Total	55000	60000

So whether you build defenses or not your weight will still increase by the base weight. This will encourage clashers to build defenses and upgrade them properly rather than trying to C h e a t the system and have advantage over others. Still the numbers are an example and we can come up with better numbers that might represent defensive upgrades more. Looking for constructive comments please not the like/dislike ones. Thanks for reading through this :)

Some people engineer bases to try and tilt the system, but this is not the way to fix that.


You also have a lot of kids who play this game, and rushers in general who are not engineering bases. They may have rushed to get their Queen, or just like the look of TH9 and 10, but they may only have 180 or 200 army camp spots, level 3-5 troops, low level dark and high troops, no infernos, level 1 xbows, etc.

The system you're proposing screws people like that (who are already screwed enough, really), along with the rest of their clan for playing the game how they want to play it.


The war matching could use a little tweaking, and they've already messed with it at least once that we know of, giving greater weight to walls and heroes. Defense is still probably weighted too heavily compared to offense though, which is what has actually led to these engineered bases, and I believe that can be tweaked without doing anything as drastic as what you're suggesting.

On a personal note, when I first got to TH9 I did what I would consider the ideal thing for multiplayer...within 24 hours I had every new defense built or building (including both xbows), the new drill being built (this was when the 2nd drill came at TH9), and spell factory upgrading. It helped me in 1 war because of the way newly purchased buildings appear complete even if they are still building, but it screwed me and my clan for a while after that until I got my army camps and bark barracks done, and upgraded golems, loons, and witches. Needless to say if I had to do it again I may have waited a bit to build the xbows, and when I go to TH10 I may try to at least get my spell factory, camps, and cc done before building infernos, not because I really want to, but because the game is pushing good players that direction. It's not that I'm trying to c h e a t the system...everyone can choose how they upgrade, but you have to work within the system. Everyone can attempt to give themselves temporary advantages by playing toward how they think the system works, or at least try to avoid being at a disadvantage, and there's really nothing wrong with that (nor will it stop if you tweak it, though it may give less of an advantage).

Honestly people you are talking about are already losing wars doing this change won't affect them negatively. It might get them to change their play style and search for better ways to develop their base.

When loot penalty was added it affected a lot of people but along the way people learned they will suffer penalty if they rush. Now more people tend to upgrade bases properly and rush less unless planned and well thought. Making such a big change will make people change before rushing and if they still want to rush then they will suffer the penalty

Yes it will...it will make it far more difficult than it already is for them to participate in war, and will likely force them to quit warring entirely while making matchups for clans without rushers that much easier when they getting pitted against clans who do have them.

The game has always made it so players with higher town halls can steal less than a player at the same level, so that was never "added". ♥♥♥ does any of this have to do with the loot penalty though?

But weighting offense more heavily actually gives clans with defenseless bases LESS of an advantage, not more, just as it gives players doing 9.5 and 8.5 less of an advantage. Of course you don't want to go too far, or you'll start seeing an advantage to having high defense with relatively low troops (though I can't imagine too many people would really want to do that). People are always going to try and game the system though, and the key to making that hard to do is having the proper balance in the weighting, not screwing a large group that already has it rough enough when this wouldn't really make wars more even anyway.

hy was the loot penalty put? To protect lower townhalls from higher lvl townhalls in terms of offense. Adding penalty in war in the same manner will again protect people progressing in the game in a normal way from people taking advantage from the current system to look like a th8 or 9 while they are th10.

No one will be forced to change play style. You could still go 8.5/9 5 or even defenseless but you will be checked first for your townhall level then offense/defense.

This don't need to be implemented all at once but mostly gradually to give a chance for people to change if they want to change. At my clan we are using 8.5/9.5 and maybe will add defenseless bases soon as most clan are using it but once this stops everyone will get back to normal upgrade plans.

The amount of players 'engineering' bases is pretty small compared to the amount of players that play clash on a daily base. I don't think this is a huge deal, really.

I agree. And engineering takes some effort. Opportunity is available for all, but only some are willing to grab those. Killing opportunities aint good.

Why don't you go to Finland and tell the developers your ideas? :smirk:

Sick and tired of people manipulating the system to gain an advantage in war. Not how Clash was made and you have a brilliant solution but the proper Clash Team would know how to implement this properly. They need to see this and stop TH9.5s and TH8.5s. It's just unfair now. Especially if there is a TH10.5 when TH11 comes out. That would be far too OP.

I seriously like this idea. But the implementation is difficult, as what is the loot given for instance in battle to the enemy from the base?

Cool idea so it would show the th and then it would show the weight of the play and rank them when they search it might take a bit longer but good idea

At my clan we use it. But why do we need to have such thing? Isn't this taking a lot of fun out of the game for both the exploiter and the normal player. The one who uses such techniques will suffer from not getting all the fun that the new townhall level provides. The normal player will find himself in a war where there is a big difference between offensive level(which matters the most) in war.

Zapping was an opportunity but still a problem which got fixed and people now learned how to attack properly and get DE

The loot should remain the same overall. The base weight could be multiplied by a factor to convert from its weight in new system to the loot available in the old system. Like in case of th10, current max is 100k and in the new system it is 60k max. So to convert from old to new: 100k = 60k, if we got 80k on old then on new it would be 80k * 0.6 = 48000 and vice versa.

The overall weight shouldn't be affected and because the difference on defense levels will be less in weight which means it will be easier to match clans.

There's not much to get because the solution as proposed will never happen, as it creates a bigger problem than it solves.

Some people will always attempt to gain an advantage by adjusting their upgrade priorities based on the matching system. The matching system could be tweaked to lessen the current advantages, but the proposed solution that will take clan wars from difficult to unplayable for non-engineered rushed bases.

Remember I my solution doesn't depends on the numbers on the table but rather on the idea of increasing weight of townhall to decrease the advantage of going X.5 thing or defenseless(this would be harder). The concept is add more weight to townhall and make more people have fun. The people who proceed normally in war. Actually increasing this over many updates will give people time to adjust.

It's impossible to tell how your table would affect things because we can only really guess at exactly how the algorithm currently functions. What is troubling to me though is this statement: "Meaning if you rush to townhall 10 you will never have a weight less than th9."

Now what exactly does this mean? Less than a fully maxed TH9? Less than a TH9 that maxed TH8 and has just built all their new defenses?

It doesn't really matter though because even the latter scenario screws over the kid who just wanted TH10 because it looked cool, but hasn't built infernos or xbows, and has 3 giants and wizards, level 1 dragons and hogs, 180 army spots, and hasn't even unlocked golems...and this is exactly the reason Supercell didn't do what you're proposing in the first place.

Further, I don't understand why slightly increasing the weight of higher level offensive troops/camp space/heroes wouldn't have the same basic effect while avoiding the negative side effect that I just pointed out.

The basic idea is that the townhall should be looked at to start with, then that townhall in war should be matched with another townhall of the same war weight ? Would this not cause some serious troubles at first seeing as we already have some wars that are able to take hours to find a match...At least that is what I got from your look at TH before the Defense idea. It may have worked if we started the game that way, but with so many THs being different it may cause trouble.

Now I have to agree...seeing a TH 10 base with all the troops at that level and the TH itself being graded on Defense someplace near my mid Th 8s is a bit strange. Is this method not done so that that th is able to run over the lower bases and gain easy stars? While the Infernos being on these bases with very little else often makes then hard to defeat...Isn't this like walking into a real life war and you have muskets versus Gatlin guns? It is all strategy...as annoying as it is there will always be a way around any fix. Question is what is the best of the worse fallout ideas.

If this is implemented in one update then yes it would cause problems. But in my replies I said this could be implemented gradually so the negative effect is small over each update but people have time to change. After 3 update the final stage could be reached.

Now if someone still wants to go 8.5/9.5 they could but they will have no advantage over others. I encourage people to use 8.5/9.5 under current system in order to have advantage over other clans or be the same but why do we need to play like that? Now it is a need in clan wars not an option. Try not to do so and lose (our opponents feel this I'm sure).

This is not a real war it is a game and what applies there doesn't apply here. Anyone play games for something other than fun? In real war it is allowed to ♥♥♥♥♥, do games allow that? Everyone is free to play the game the way they want but without taking out fun from others.

I know this would have negative effects on some players who didn't intend to gain advantage but just wanted to rush and go to war. The current system punish more people, all those who want to war and still have a nice farming base.
