TH 9.5 as the 1st member of your clan smart or no?

I can see the benefit of going 8.5/9.5 for a while to optimize your upgrade order, but when you start buying and canceling upgrades to gain an artificial advantage I think you're going too far. Wouldn't the game be more fun if you were matching opponents that were closer to your level? Don't you think it taints your statement that you have 37 consecutive wins when you're having to game the system to do it?

as a near max th 9 and often our clans number 1, I get matched with 1 or 2 th10s with lvl 2 or 3 infernos, I have no chance at 3 starring a base like this even if they have weak heros or walls, I do what I have to do to make the flawed match making process more fair. i'm obviously not going to cancel and build infernos every war, just when we get mismatched.

Really your problem here is thinking you can 3 star these bases. Th10s aren't meant to be 3 starred the only time it generally happens in th10 gameplay is where a maxed th10 is attacking a new th10 and even that's rare.

OP I'd say go full th10, I went to th10 recently as a poorer upgraded th9 (poorer in terms of heroes and walls, I had ♥♥♥♥ heroes and walls) than you are but I never regretted it for a single second. In wars as a th9 you could 2 star decent th10s anyway but then get demolished but there superior offence with you crappy th9 defense.

When I went to th10 I built infernos straight up, got them to lvl 3 straight up, xbows 4 straight up, telsas 8 straight up and I can't emphasise on how much you will stop on defense. I went from being a 3 starred every war th9 to a th10 that could be 2 starred only if lucky. And the offensive side of th10 doesn't change too much until maxed anyway, I could 2 star decent th10s with high lvl infernos and whatnot anyway. Combine that with 3 starring all th9s that come your way th10 is true bully form.

So if your a decent attacker I'd recommend you go straight to mid th10, you'll be able to 2 star all other th10s with ease anyway and you'll barely get 2 starred yourself unless there's a good th10 attacker in the enemy clan (you don't see many of them).
