During competitive wars it's almost essential to have your heros. They create a huge issue with warring due to the fact at townhall 9+, we are always upgrading them and therefore can not use them in war. This ruins clan wars in a way in my opinion because you can't use your hero at all and they are upgrading a majority of the time. My suggestion is to just allow the use of heros at the old level until they finish upgrading, that way it will not take a huge toll on the attacker!

In my clan we ask you opt out the avoid the disadvantage. This does effect who gets to participate in wars but also creates a variety of wars other than 20 vs 20, 15 vs, 15, etc.

This has been suggested so many times, and will most likely never happen. Its still a source of income for SC as people still gem the wait on heroes for use in War. So until people stop doing that, SC arent gonna add it into the game

No one in my clan gems the Royals just to war. I almost feel like many of them went inactive because of being sick of it. Trying to upgrade to get ahead and getting screwed for it. The money maker argument could go either way on this. Some people gem the wait time and others leave the game never to spend another gem because of it.
As a max TH9 I farm strictly for DE to upgrade Royals that are in their 20s atm. This means I can only war once a week. Start a war 24 hrs before upgrade completion, do both attacks asap. Put one to sleep again. I want to leave my current clan to join a lagit war clan but I feel like they would kick me out if I only did one out of every 3 wars. I hope I don't get board in my current farm clan. Back on the money making topic I personally would spend more gems on 2 hr boost sessions to get DE to upgrade more often if they were always available in war.
