I've seen several people doing this. In my case, I can still get the town hall anyway. But I've seen my teammate sharing his replay that someone got baited and unable to destroy his town hall.
I am just curious, does this strategy work at master 1- champion league?
IMHO, trappng an exterior TH is just griefing. It almost never works unless you're prepared to throw all of your teslas and traps at it and do it smarly, and even then it's questionable as to the benefit. You MIGHT get a defense, maybe, rarely. On the flip side, every single attack is going to trigger all of those expensive traps and you'll have to pay to reload them. Teslas by themselves aren't enough, as most people will just drop more offense to wipe em out.
Personally, I go completely opposite to that. The idea of a farming base is to GIVE someone your TH so you get a free shield. I go so far as to take my giant bombs and place them in out of the way locations so they DO NOT get triggered (I don't want to pay the reload cost).
If you want defensive wins, put up a war base type village layout - you'll win some, but you'll lose more resources. Even then, most of your wins will come from people that are just dropping trophies...
Only teslas, I put all my traps inside walls to prevent re-arm them for everytime someone attacks my village.

I agree that it is just a form of griefing. You catch on the bait pretty quick. I tend to punish those bases. I just want a quick win for the loot bonus, but I will do everything in my power (read, use all spells, sacrifice heroes) to get the DE in the middle if I have to in order to trade that grief with them.
While it is understandable that this kind of strategy is annoying, but if you often raid with cheap troops, you probably won't able to penetrate inferno lvl 3 and max defenses even with 5 spells to reach my dark elixir storage.Quote:

yes it does work, look up the titanic th9 th trap base i think the thread is called, works great. you just need a full cc and both heroes once you reach masters becauce people use full armies and spells.
After giving away free loot. Deception is one of the fastest way to win trophies.
However I doubt it would be very successful in high Masters, players up there are stronger and smarter. Also matchmaking will be reducing the number of low hall players finding you. And they are the ones you really want to bait.
I never understood why people would want to trap their TH, and back when I used Barch for farming I'd curse the Trapper and deploy all my troops to get the TH and trigger all his/her traps. Now that I GiBarch 95% of the time, I don't really mind. It's even good sometimes, since it means all (or at least most) of their traps and Teslas are huddled in a corner, and I can easily take their resources. :smirk:

And all my traps are inside my walls. But even if you are making great effort to trigger all of them, (again) it doesn't really matter to me since I can afford the gold and elixir just fine to re-load them over and over.
I am thinking about this because my war base doesn't really hold much in champion. Most people will attack with high level army and get 1-2 star for my base meaning losing trophy faster. And with my farm base, I need to stay online to prevent people attacking me since I put my Town Hall outside.
I am just wondering if TH trap can hold my trophy in champion. You can say it might be a form of grieving but people will do anything necessary to gain trophy in this league lol
