Just now I clicked on every single revenge button in my war log, every one of them said : 'Can't attack, village owner is online/Village has active shield blah blah blah...), very frustrating to spend so much time for nothing, they should grey out the revenge button if owner has shield/online. What do you guys think??
Wait, how long did it take you to click allmof those buttons? Two and a half seconds? I think the revenge feature is kinda messed up, but would not use that a a reason...
I agree. They should make a grey or red revenge button
I feel more inclined to suggest removing revenge from the game. Can't say it's ever been a meaningful aspect for me.
I agree that the revenge should improve, and I like this idea.
However it is unfortunately ruled out.
Graphical Interface Related:
*Separate tab in chat for troop requests
*Revenge list indicate online/shielded or currently attackable without having to click each person’s button
*Ability to hide certain attacks in battle logs
*Show loot/trophies which were available on battle logs in addition to what was earned
*When revenge used – defense log includes original attack results (resources/trophies/%/stars)
*Modify Att/Def Won stat to include losses as well, example: Attacks: 38/12 Defenses: 3/12
*Add comma or space at thousands space in ALL places: Upgrade buttons, spell/troop buttons, shop, etc.
*Add a counter when all builders are busy to indicate when first one will be free
*Allow iOS Device battery indicator icon to be displayed while in-game
*Upgrade menu listing all things upgradable
*Ability to turn on white buffer lines without moving building/decoration
*Add a League Chat area
*Ability to hide traps/bombs (perhaps Tesla) in edit mode to give an "attacker's view"

I have also been frustrated with no opportunity to revenge. I love the idea of revenge, but this is what happens. A person attacks my base (Currently at 3856 cups) and typically wins with 1 or 2 stars. When I scout their base, they nearly always have their Town Hall's outside waiting for a higher level player to hit them for a cheap snipe. I know this happens because that's what I do when I push for cups.
What would be a better, more competitive option, is to actually allow for a revenge. Here is my idea:
From the Defense log, a player is allowed a Special Revenge option on any (one) person from the log. When that person logs off to defend, a push notification will go out to the player claiming a "special revenge" giving them up to 5 minutes to perform an attack before that base is released to the masses. Since it is "Special" you can only perform one of these revenges per day. (If Supercell wants to allow more, maybe they could assign a gem value to purchase that option?) I think it would be a big hit in the highest league levels.
This will allow more true competition within the multiplayer game. I see fewer people placing their Town Halls outside their base to be sniped. Lower level players that have no business being in the highest level of competition due to sniping exposed town halls and attacking for measly one stars will be exposed. Fewer Town Halls will be left out, because who would want to give a free victory to someone that actually has the opportunity to revenge them?
Does anyone else have any thoughts to add to this proposed feature?

Revenging while online or shielded is a terrible idea.
There's a buffer preventing revenues until 7 minutes of being available to regular matchmaking. This was to combat cheap shielding. They certainly won't fix revenge by not only reverting to the old sytem, but making that old system easier.
Theres a solution out there that may work, but no one has come up with it yet...
In the meantime, remember that the system protects you as much as it protects them.
