Placing Items in Production Queues

Do you normally have things queued up in your production slots? I think when we spend diamonds opening up additional slots we tend to wanna fully utilize it? But you can't delete items in waiting or switch queue order so I really hate it when I see what I need for my next boat order and is unable to make what I need because the slots are full. So my question is - is it wise to queue many items at a go or should we only make use of the queue when we're unable to play for many hours ie. sleeping/working etc?

It all depends on your playing style and barn capacity.

Obviously, it makes complete sence to load the queue completely when you plan to make a pause in playing (for sleeping, working, or any other non-productive activity that unfortunately distracts you from your farm). I also think of a barn capable to store at least 10 units of every good: for most of boat charges it's enough to fill it on the fly and recompensate losses later. That barn should have at least 1000 spaces, as some items are required in enhanced volumes, plus there should be supply materials, plus some free operational space is needed...

My barn is not that big. For items I don't have enough I load machines for 4 hours (until next boat). When the boat arrives, I estimate the time needed to load it and queue relevant machines for that additional time. By the time the boat is sent, my machines use to complete their jobs, or about to do so.

Nothing's difficult, but it's not elementary. It's just a game after all, so if something goes wrong - just let it be gone and restore the order you prefer :)

Well for me anything that takes longer than two hours I put them in queue while i sleep. What I also do is alternate every other. So for example, tonight i would do bacon pie, tomorrow night do apple pie and I alternate. Same goes for cake oven. If boat is asking for such items I don't have then I just turn the boat away. Since I already got my BSH III, i don't really care about doing boat orders. sure they are helpful for getting vouchers but i have way too many.
