Kicking members?

So a ton of low level guys shot into our clan when we dropped the trophy count for my sister. We don't mind a couple of low levels so we can help them grow but 20 is too many. I want to all except for 3 of them but 17 kicks may ♥♥♥♥ off/scare others away. My leader gave me permission to kick them if I wanted to but a lot of the old clan mates get mad at me when I do it despite leader permission, he just has no time to do it. Any tips on how to kick people and not ♥♥♥♥ anyone off? I only kick new people if they join and don't talk. They all joined last night and some have 60 troops received already without saying a word to anyone. So I hate these types of players. The few I want to keep are still low levels but they at least talk so it's nice to have them.

Just do it. Kick 'em in little groups of three or four ....bam gone! If they don't benefit the clan..get rid and get new ones. There's plenty players out there. You will always get new ones

Why not send out a mail saying welcome new members , we expect you to be active and chat type message? That way you can say you tried and you might find some good people among those you just let in.

Your leader doesn't have enough time to kick people out of the clan? Sorry that just doesn't compute with me. Anyways, why are you so adamant to kick these players? what is it about them that they don't qualify to be part of your clan? What have they don't to damage the integrity of the clan?

People seem to be really quick to hold themselves in high regard and dismiss others as inferior but if you give people a chance there's a good chance they will surprise you.

Couldn't agree more here. A little bit of understanding and compassion can go a long way towards establishing a stable core membership.

That being said... while we were in the early phases of growing our clan, we used a binge and purge method of opening the the floodgates to all sorts of undesirables and then sifting through to see which ones match our personality and have potential to grow into the players that we want. One thing we learned in the process is that booting more than 3 or 4 people causes a lot of worry and unrest amongst other clan members. This is a bad thing to do.

My approach now that we can be a little bit more picky who we let in, is that once a member makes it into our clan, they are afforded every opportunity to prove that they belong. Many will leave on their own, some will get booted. The rest that stick to the wall end up being good contributing members to our own little society.

Side note here, you mentioned that others get upset when you start kicking. You should examine this a little bit deeper. Even if you are the leader. Your clan is only as good as it's members, and as such, you need to appease the masses to some extent. If your actions are causing unrest, you really need to consider the reasons for this if you plan to keep any of them around for long time.

SparkyMarc up there is right, kicking's got to be communicated well both before (last chances, communication of expectations) and after (explaining to clan). It's got to feel like a spring clean, not a stalinist purge, and everyone has to know the reasons and be on board with the logic of it.

I dont get why you let a bunch of low level players into your clan in the first place. When you lowered the trophy count you should've set it to invite only so a bunch of newbies didn't join. Anyways I would kick. If you are going to be a co in a clan you gotta be serious about the rules.

It was an accident and before we could fix it, people just popped in. As soon as the update happened(within 3 minutes) we had 20 new people. None of which we wanted, we don't even know how they found us. It was instantaneous.

We don't hold ourselves in high regard. We wanted to keep some, as I said. We don't want to keep any that do not talk though. That's our main issue. If you join without a "Hi" or anything at all except for a troop request, why should we keep you when that spot can be filled by someone who will talk/help us in return? We love helping people and will take in a low level but so many joined that we had no room for anyone to help us. Our clan has a few rules in the description, communication is number one. If you join a clan that says "Must participate in chat" and you don't, then you get kicked. Just like if you join one that says "Use both attacks in war" and you use neither. Simple as that. I just didn't want to scare the others away that we actually wanted to keep. We help out lower levels, and we love doing it. Don't assume we wanted them out just because they were low levels. We just didn't want a clan full of TH3s. A few at a time is fine which is much better than the majority of clans with TH8s. I see more TH8/9 only clans than I see of clans like mine. So thanks for assuming we are all terrible people just because we want our clan to be somewhat decent.
By the way, it's called co-leader for a reason. I help lead. We are both busy at different times, some days he can't get on at all and some days I can't. It's called a life, and his was too busy for him to worry about kicking 15 members so he told me to. I really hope your leader(or yourself) isn't playing Clash ALL day EVERY day. We did say it, plus it's in the rules. They joined to mooch off our troops, not chat with us. Half didn't speak english either.

I agree with kicking people upon joining that don't say anything. Especially in your case where chat is an important foundation to your clan. Sometimes they may be out on raid so I will be more lenient if it took us a while to accept, but that's a different topic.

As long as you make it clear to the clan as a whole what the error was and that this is how you intend to resolve it (by mass purge) there shouldn't be any surprises and established members really shouldn't bat an eye to it if they are paying attention. Would have been better to just boot them all right away when it happened. I would still recommend taking them out a couple at a time. They are there, may as well feel them out a little bit.

Just kick them, you have to set standards for your clan, if they don't meet it, goodbye.

I am probably the single most active member of my clan, so I am usually the one who kicks random joiners, but more often, set the stage for them to leave voluntarily. I politely give them our rules and guidelines, including no high cost/ time troop requests before a member has proven themselves to be active and any changs they need to make to be considered for war. This is usually a rushed base discussion. More often than not, after I repeatedly refuse to fill their cc with a pekka, and explaining why I wont, they will leave or behave in a way that leaves no question as to whether they should be booted.

The long-term members in our clan LOVE our chopping ceremonies. Make it something that they can enjoy, while simultaneously reinforcing to them that they should be active or avoid doing whatever it is that these members did/didn't do that got them kicked.

Most of our chops are war-based. We do mid-war chops for just garbage players who don't do something as basic as going into war with a full army, but at the end of war we have our rules for war participation.

1. Every TH9+ who has any unused attacks in war gets chopped. Doesn't matter if they're a long-term member, new, a coleader. We grow our members in-house, and they know that by the time they are weighted that highly in war, if they know they can't get both attacks in, they opt out. If not, and they only use one or no attacks, gone. They can re-request, but if it becomes a habit we stop accepting.

2. Every TH8 down is expected to get both attacks in. However, life happens, so if they can only get one attack in, it must be a 3-star, netting at least one new star for the clan. This encourages them to attack early, and ensure that their first attacks are something they know they will 3-star (typically meaning dropping down, which is encouraged as it helps us strategize how to hit the top bases later, knowing the TH8s down are cleaned).

At the end of each war, we go through and do our chops. It's not a scary/threatening thing; it's what our clan expects to happen, as they know I don't play favorites and have chopped IRL friends, so they can expect that I'll make the tough chop decisions and do what's best for the clan to keep us successful in wars.
