What's the deal with the trophy system?

Well, I don't really mind being attacked by a TH9. It is to be expected at champs/masters, but a potential 57 trophy 3 star (non-revenge) loss seems to indicate a problem exists.

I'm still a TH7, pushing to pass the time while my upgrade to TH8 finishes. I had 3499 (still champs 3) trophies and get kicked off at 6 hours.

On defense, I get attacked by a TH9 (masters 1) with 3094 trophies. He gets one star and for that one star attack, 19 trophies. Bless his heart, because if he had unleashed his GoWiPe and heroes, a three star victory would have been a lock and he would have gotten 57 (yes, FIFTY SEVEN) trophies.

No, this was not a revenge attack. It was standard matchmaking. Potential 57 trophy loss through standard matchmaking.

If a th7 is going to Champs they should expect to get crushed by high level players

I don't at all expect to win any defenses and I do expect to get crushed, but offering a TH9 a potential of 57 trophies for a victory against a TH7 is quite excessive.
