Ridiculous clan members!!

So, as everyone already knows we had a war yesterday that I wasn't so happy about... Either way, win or lose, I feel like participation is a must not an option unless u have opted out of clan wars! BC of what happened, I didn't kick anyone but sent clan mail stating that they must participate and be progressing or they will be kicked! I'm not trying to be harsh, but it's the only way that the entire clan can progress as a whole! Needless to say, I've made people mad now. One guy left saying sorry I'm not progressing when I obviously wasn't talking to him BC his builders were busy!! Does anyone else have these problems or just me??? And do u think I'm asking to much to expect everyone to use both attacks in war and constantly make upgrades???

Alot people behave like that, normal case. No worry.

Some players are just plain jerks.

Start a forum recruitment thread.
Gather some good people, start afresh.

Also, if I may ask, what is your TH and XP level?

I feel like it's their game and it's not your call whether or not to say they are "progressing" their base or not. Everyone plays different and no one likes dictatorship. Sorry, just sounds like it's either your way or the highway and that sounds like a bad way to run a clan.

Everyone in war should use both attacks, and if they don't then you should kick them out.
However making everyone constantly upgrade is asking too much as some players may be casual.

My clan has a policy of "2 attacks or get kicked" and war is totally optional so no excuses
Most of the core members are used and very happy about this, so am I
The only ones that get kicked are newcomers and they don't come back, problem solved

Ok, ur right, it's their game, but if they haven't done anything for 2 weeks and they have warning then they should just not be in my clan. The clan members I was referring to we're th 3 and they still are 2 weeks later. I'm not waiting 5 years at this rate for them to even get to th5! Obviously, me letting them do what they want and use me for troops isn't working. I've donated almost 5000 troops in less than 2 weeks, so they are playing the game, just doing nothing with their bases, and even though war was attacked against us, I used both attacks and they should have too in my opinion.

Honestly unless your clan is a very competitive war clan then I wouldn't worry about making mandates and sending out clan emails about people progressing or getting kicked. Be a leader not a dictator. Lead by example offer a helping hand and not an iron fist. If someone is unable to attack in war then find out why. Ask questions maybe something happened. Make it clear to people that if they aren't sure they can attack twice that they should sit out and that it's okay to sit out.

That's y u choose quality over quantity.

Are they and you having fun?
My clan has several who anly play the game for war which we do twice per week. All loot is what they gain from the war and they progress slower. We also have 15 who are very active. Currently have 31 members and war 25v25. Those 15 always get both attacks in while others may not. Those 15 get almost all the stars for the war and others practice attacks while gettibg loot.
We dont care cause we usually win and everyone is happy and having fun. I like have the big mix of people it makes everything unpredictable.

I don't think I've ever been in a war where every single attack has been used. If it becomes a pattern with someone, kick them after a warning. But people could miss their attacks for all sorts of reasons.

Your definitely not asking to much to expect people to use both attacks in clan wars. That's actually a pretty normal expectation. Lots of clans expect that, not just yours. You might be asking to much by telling them to constantly make upgrades though. Just be open minded about it. Everyone makes progress at a different pace so it might not be reasonable to expect constant upgrades. As long as their making progress you should let them be in my opinion.

If they are opting in they gotta do both attacks, or they should be kicked.

Also, if the clan can sense your not happy with the clan, they will be less inclined to be active. Always be positive and supporting to the clan. But keep in mind that those who don't use their attacks in war (and thus the war is lost) are making it not fun for everyone else and that needs to be dealt with. It was rough in my clan for a bit, but now everyone loves the clan and is glad to be a part of it.

As said before quality over quantity. May be best to only recruit TH6 and up, at that point they know game fundamentals and you know they are semi invested in the game (unless they rushed there).

As for attacks in war though, there aren't exceptions BC it's in my clan description. One guy was in the hospital last week, and of course I didn't and couldn't hold that against him. This past war we had yesterday (that was an insane situation without elaborating on it), I didn't hold it against anyone, just sent clan mail letting everyone know that reguardless of the situation from here on out, we will use both attacks anyway! I thought that was being polite about it.

In our clan we also ask members to always use both attacks in war. If they have opted in it's mandatory, since no one forces them to participate and they're free to opt out whenever they need or want to.

However, we don't kick members out for missing out on an attack... 90% of the time it's accidental, after all. If they're repetitively leaving attacks undone we just leave them out of wars. A lot of people who don't actively participate in Clan Wars are very nice and make otherwise dedicated members. :)

Maybe for a while, I just may do 10vs10 wars, or 15vs15

From all your threads it sounds like you expect everyone to think and behave exactly like you do/want. That's not how the real world (or the clashing world work), some people are happy logging on clearing their collectors twice a day, never attacking. Some people attack 1000 times a season and get upset at every single person that doesn't get 3 stars in war attacks.

Any time you get 50 people together there is going to be drama, maybe someone gives feedback that is taken the same way, maybe someone wants to war more. As the leader it is your job to set rules and enforce them. If somebody acts in a way that you feel is hurting the clan or is outside the rules then get rid of them as they will just hurt the overall moral of the clan.

So yes in your eyes they may be ridiculous but some people will think you are ridiculous for taking the game so serious and worrying about getting every attack in. Keep the people that align with your goals for the clan and get rid of the rest.

I've told people stuff like - hey you want to be in the next war upgrade your spell factory. Or some other such thing when If feel some member is not up to snuff on something I tell them a building or troop I want them to put in the queue. They go a few days ignoring it and doing other stuff, we'll they probably won't be in the next war.

You are right it is "their game" they can play it how ever they want. But if they want to war in "my clan", then I expect some level of progress for their town hall.

But I realize that some folks progress faster than others, as long as they are headed in the right direction on their TH I don't mind. It's when they have under powered stuff for their TH and decide they need new toys in the next TH that I start to have a problem with them. Especially if attack strength is where they are lacking.

Oh and not using war attacks. That pisses me off because we war the same time every week. Is it that hard to build 2 friggin' armies once a week??!??!!?

Life goes on. Enforce your rules, kick those who don't follow them, and don't sweat the drama llamas.

Im with you in this, I believe war participation is critical for winning wars. Even if you lose after perfect war particupation theb tough luck, work on your attacks/base or maybe you were just plain outmatched. If some members fail to talk strategy and asking for help and just do their own thing in war and complain when they lose or get called out for not attacking in war then they should be immediately kicked.

For those who are saying a leader can't tell his/her clanmates what to do with their game are to an extent right but still, in competitive clans, these kinds of things are inevitable and what's the purpose of joining a clan if you don't follow rules? Just my two cents.

So yeah, you are not in the wrong here, your clanmates are and you should kick them out and replace them with better clanmates who listen.

I still don't understand why everyone forces all their players to use both attacks. I feel like if it isn't necessary they don't need to. Everyone in my clan hit's their mirror first (unless matchmaking shows we should do otherwise), then second attacks are used for clean up. If everyone is cleaned they can either hit for loot or just not use their second attack. While this may be frowned upon by most leaders it makes everyone try their hardest on their mirror so they can get more loot on their second hit.

You are doing the right thing. It's your clan,it's your rules. I also expect two full on attacks from my warriors, war is optional so no excuses!
I also expect some progress from my lower level members...I think what you are laying out are perfectly reasonable rules.

Try not too stress too much about the ones leaving when you remind them they need to put in more effort. Your clan is better off without them. There are always more players to take their place.

And ultimately since you as leader aren't gonna leave... You have got to be strong enough to shape the clan as you envisage it. Clans always go through evolutions and there is always a certain amount of flow... Don't worry, with patience you will shape yourself the perfect clan.

No war is unwinnable. Some may have the odds stacked against you but that's when having solid members who listen and can attack well when needed is viable. If you spam the clan chat with "Oh we're gonna lose we have no chance we got so outmatched this war bites.". That doesn't put out good vibes and will make people think since there is no chance there is no point in putting in the effort to win. Rework your clan, get to know your members, build a bond, if they aren't good teach them, if they are good let them help you with newer players. I get the vibe from all your posts that you just tend to recruit any and everyone and that can make way for some very unhappy ending wars. I'm curious to see your TH level and base development (I'd assume TH8 or below), if that is the case and you're bringing in TH3's you need to make sure that you can bring in 6 stars every war and have at LEAST 2 other members that can bring in the same amount.

Mizzou, I bring in 6 stars every war, so u dont know what u are talking about, and I never said we couldn't win the war ( I can't go into details any further about that war, if u were on forums yesterday, u would have a better idea), so members should have used both attacks or at the least attacked like I did! The only part of this I frown on is how dumb mirror attacks are, unless everyone has exactly the same talent level with all of the same strategies (unless you're all TH10s and just mostly shooting for two stars and everyone is using the same mass golem strategy)

In my clan if you opt in for War, you must attack. The opt in/out should lend enough flexibility for clan mates to pick and choose when to War. I don't put expectations on members to upgrade their base, outside of no rushing.

As for your War yesterday, don't forget school just started back up and you may have members who are busy and need to be reminded by leadership to attack or opt out of wars. We struggled with our War yesterday. As a result we have changed to scheduled Wars (2 a week) so that everyone knows exactly when War start is!

Yes. And if I took brand new TH3s to war who weren't upgrading their base, it would absolutely be my fault as a leader for taking people to war who likely quit the game. Good leaders can see what part of the game their members are at. You're giving them hundreds of troops in a day, but they aren't upgrading anything and you aren't talking about their progress in chat?

Once again, how is this anyone's fault but your own? You're the one who sees that they can't use all these troops right or seem to do anything right, and you're the one who put them in war anyway?

Im not saying I disagree with you at all because I do agree with you, mirror attacks are dumb. We do it because most wars we just straight three star throughout the whole board. If someone doesn't like their mirror they trade with someone if they want. If they stand no chance and no one wants to trade they wait for clean up. It works for us, every clan has a strategy, saying we mirror is just the easiest way to explain ours.

Ahh gotcha. I find that's very doable through mid TH8 when everyone is just running dragons, but past that there are more efficient ways to ensure three stars. If your players are good enough to pull that off, more power to you, but a lot of the attackers in my clan are not necessarily the most talented attackers in the game so I go to extra lengths to give them every advantage they can have to maximize our amounts of three stars and it works pretty well.

There's one common denominator with the fact that the OP has daily problems, and it is OP's leadership problems.. Then denies denies denies when people try pointing them out. I understand you run your clan like clockwork etc... But you could try and be less condescending when dishing out your professional advise, eh. She is not denying anything, she is trying to find her way, that's all. We all do. It's a game not a job. Getting 50 people from all over the world to be on the same page is not an easy feat , it's more like hearing cats actually and it requires some patience and sometimes yes, sometimes you are so frustrated with your unruly kittens you get grumpy at them and maybe use the wrong tone, but her sentiment is right and I fully support her on that. It's her clan...she'll get it shipshape, I'm sure.

I agree about the mirror attacks, I also frown upon them but I know a lot of clans still do them ...fair enough. But that wasn't really the problem exactly, so no point on harping on about that.

I'm starting to think she is just a troll. Or so oblivious as to not bother with. All kinds of people in the world, find the ones you want in the clan, get rid of the rest, simple as that. Our clan has good leadership and we don't have any leaches, usually get 100% participation in wars, and get the troops we want donated. People don't fit in, they don't stay long. Makes growth slower but the clan better overall.

At one point our clan was 45-49 strong all the time. With war being introduced, it made for a lot of kicking and constant turn over of new and old members.

Now we stay around 30-35 as we have to do a lot of weeding people out, especially for war but we keep our wars on rotation with 10-15 squads. It allows for constant war without having to force everyone to war frequently. In an all adult clan, that is helpful as we all have real life issued and obligations that trump Clash of Clans.

Sometime, you just have to put your foot down and place your dictator cap on and do some kicking.

Stand behind your conviction and those that stay will respect the clan and it's leadership more.

This and only this. @Fette- look at all the responses... Just about everyone single one that reflected different opinions than hers were ignored or the person was told they don't know what they're talking about. If someone agreed with her she jumped all over it with excitement because her poor leadership skills were "validated" by someone who doesn't have the slightest clue how she actually runs her clan. My two cents is if you need to come to the forums asking for leadership advice that person shouldn't be in a leadership position.

Dragons against maxed AD,S are not a dead cert 3 stars , maxed Hogs(Surgical or GOHO) are (just work out what base needed what)
Also how do you do the second part I have quoted in red??

Max hogs are certain three stars? Hogs can three star any base, but are also liable to fail on any base, especially with less talented attackers. How do I do the second part quoted in red? I'll give you the TH8 example. We know which bases we need three starred by dragons and which ones we're going to hog; thus, when all the dragon attacks are used I'll tell the excess dragon attacks to shoot for two stars on the bases we'll need to hog before the hoggers go so we know exactly where the teslas are and can deduce where the giant bombs are. Then, I have our inferior hoggers go before our better hoggers and have them do the strategies we go over, so if they fail, we still have our better hoggers left to hit the base. Of course, I can act like your stereotypical forumer and say "we always get three stars", but I'm honest enough to realize that doesn't happen in the real world and work on developing the most foolproof strategies to ensure each base is three starred by the end of the war.

How do I not come across different than the OP? The fundamental difference between myself and the OP is that I actually know what I'm doing and lead a war clan that wins the vast majority of its wars despite not having the best players known to man, and we succeed in having fun. I don't run to the forums with drama because we're a well run clan, whereas the OP has no idea what she's doing and runs to the forums seeking validation.

Now, how is the best advice that I can give her NONE? She comes here with a bunch of problems and seeking validation, people can either 1. tell her what she's doing wrong (she's the one that came under the pretense of seeking advice), or 2. tell her to keep on doing the same things which clearly are not working. Many of the other forumers here have spent far more time playing the game and can tell her realistic expectations that she should have for her low level members, and the only way for her to get experience is to practice. So there's nothing wrong with being new, you just have to realize it and be willing to accept it and take advice.

Many of the other forumers here have spent far more time playing the game and can tell her realistic expectations that she should have for her low level members, and the only way for her to get experience is to practice. So there's nothing wrong with being new, you just have to realize it and be willing to accept it and take advice.

I grant you that the way you plan your attacks strategy wise is exemplary and after reading that will not argue( too much)
But It just seems that every thread she creates ,you give advice( some good some not so) but you get irrate when she does not agree, so I say again in a situation like that, the no advice is better than giving advice that is not going to be listened too and just turns toxic in the end..!!!

For the record, I'm not irate, I just call it like I see it. The OP certainly has potential once she gets a better grasp at leading a clan but her refusal to listen to anyone will cause these problems to continue

In my clan, everyone uses their attacks, no matter what, win or lose. That is one way to prevent people from waiting until a war is a certain victory/loss, to either attack for loot, or not at all.

You opted in. It's two attacks in 24 hours. If you can't do that, you better opt out.

I had to work late a few nights ago, and had to attack in the parking lot, after work, from my phone, rather than my iPad, as I would prefer, because I didn't have time to do it any other way. There was no way for us to win, but I did it anyway. I gemmed my troops, spells, and heroes for my second attack, because I lead by example. I took out the two remaining targets, and at least got my clan the XP for doing so.

Every attack, every war, by every participant. That is my rule. What kind of leader would I be if I didn't follow my own rule?

I don't have this as an absolute rule for the simple fact that I will often tell people to hold onto their attack and let someone hit a base first for a variety of reasons. If, in the end, the other attackers all do such a great job that their attack can't contribute any more and we won, I'm not going to force them to use the attack; however, if we need the attack they better use it. By the same token, if I need someone to attack early and they fail to attack early so others take the bases I wanted them to hit and they later use both attacks when they can't contribute any stars.. That doesn't count as using both attacks to me and I still might boot them for having useless attacks and hampering the war effort.

You can find better players than him, don't lose hope man.

I'm a leader of a great core clan of 15+ members currently on 26 members. We recently decided to merger with one of our feeder clan, but it all went down the drain as opposed to our clan requirements as it's stated , I've gone soft at first accepting ppl blow our minimum requirement....... long story short our feeder clan majority members have/had the perspective of playing the game for a social reason instead of adapting to our clan being a war addicted/dedicated clan. So in the end we filtered out those from who were willing to stay who were worthy enough to keep. Nobody likes to loose in wars, period. I accept a fail if my members show a 3 star attempt ending up in 1 star, but nevertheless the attempt counts more to me. We have a fb page where I guide the members upon all necessary ways to better them self, so if I don't feel the understanding/dedication of a newly accepted member it's time to let him/them go.
I'm fortunate to have great Co's along that support the progress, they are knowledgeable so they follow the path on what our clan has to follow to be successful, keeping assets and dumping liabilities.

We have the same issues in my clan, People join and don't opt out and get chosen for war, don't do there attacks and get booted. They need to update the game so when you first join a clan you are automatically opted out and only the leader can opt you in for your first war,, This way you have a chance speak to that person directly and get your point across as to what is expected..

Definitely require both attacks, even if the war’s results are certain. I sat too long in a bad clan watching winnable wars fail because members prematurely decide it’s not worth wasting resources to attack. It quickly becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. I also don’t put up with people who routinely hold back both attacks until the end, effectively letting the rest of the clan with the war for them. We’re all in this together, so the bad behaviors need to be weeded out. Good war clans have rules, plain and simple.

But I don’t agree with forcing people to upgrade. Those TH3s are probably helping your matchmaking more than you think. If I could force some of my TH7s to stay put, I would. But I’d never tell someone not to advance in the game. I have kicked people for upgrading too early though (TH7 to TH8 with level 1 dragons). The only time I can think of where someone has been excluded was a member who joined at TH6, reached TH7 and two months later still didn’t have dragons. We all constantly told him he needed to get them and one day he left. He tried to come back when the next clan he joined booted him for not having dragons, and we didn’t let him back in. He just didn’t want to listen to good advice and was starting to drag us down in war.

I had not heard the progressing requirement in a clan before (though if that is something that is important to you there is nothing wrong with demanding it of your clan members), but using both attacks in war is a very reasonable requirement. The main thing that wins wars is participation. Even if your clan's attackers are not that great, if you have 100% participation you will win most of your wars simply because many clans don't have 100% participation. The only way to get 100% participation is to kick out all people that don't use both attacks until you are left with only people that take war attacks seriously.

I don't care what your life looks like, you can find 4 minutes to play on two occasions in a 24 hour time period. Can these people that say they don't have time to do war attacks honestly say that they never checked their text messages at all during that 24 hour time period? That they never sat down anywhere where there was not some other person with them that demanded their full attention? Other than being in a place with no internet service (for 100% of the 24 hour time period) there is no valid excuse for not performing your war attacks. And being in a internet dead zone for a full 24 hours is not common (it can happen but you usually have to go out of your way to be in a place with no service for that long). I have had very busy days where I had no time to search for a base to attack (and just had to let my shield expire and get attacked without doing the at least one attack I like to do whenever my shield goes down), but war attacks take no search time.

4 minutes is enough time to queue an army and spells, pick a base to attack, and attack it. More preparation time may be better, but I don't expect perfection, just reasonable participation. People that don't make war attacks simply are saying that they don't consider war participation to be enough of a priority to spend 4 minutes doing it. That is perfectly fine. They can join a non-stop war farming clan or any other clan that doesn't care at all about war results. If they want to be in a clan that at least desires to win (even if the clan is not very good and doesn't expect to win all the time) they need to at least participate and you are perfectly within your right to demand such a thing.

100% attacks used is a must, anyone who can't comply must be kicked.

It is your clan. You should be able to run it with the rules that you want. If people don't like your style (or dictatorship), they will leave. If they like it, they will probably stay. There are thousands of clans, if people don't like yours they have every opportunity to find another one. If you find yourself with very few members or very unhappy clan mates, you might want to reconsider your leadership style.
