Why do people join clans and then never talk?

So I was wondering why people join clans and then never talk? Any ideas? I mean sometimes it's language barrier but not always. I just don't see the point in being part of a team/clan and not communicating with other members

edit: I really didn't expect this much feedback, and I obviously wasn't referring to hoppers who only want troops, but rather like a few have mentioned, do at attack in war, don't request troops, don't do anything. Perhaps it's the concept of being in a clan. No matter what clan it is.

Usually boot them if they don't even say hi or care to introduce themselves upon joining.

When I visit other clans I make a point to say hi to the leader to get a feel of what the clan is all about.

It's pretty common, some people are just shy or don't care and just want to donate/request troops.

Because typing on your phone's tiny keyboard can get tiresome? I dunno. I usually chat up a storm even though it takes me forever to type things up.

Some people just want to leach off your clan. If you don't know what I mean by that I mean that they just want to recieve troops and they will just keep doing it till there kicked. As for people that don't talk or request, I have no clue why.

this is the best policy. im co leader on a clan for around 6 months but honestly prefer to not talking with others ;) as much as possible. they always want talk and talk and talk ;) why wasting your time .(im max th10 with 150 lvl11 walls;)) and now only playing for BK and AQ ( 34 and 33 now) .

I think this is a big factor..
But find that if you keep trying to involve them(mention thier name whilst talking to other clan member) ,sooner or later they will make that step, even with a hi/ I'm shy ETC..
But never hold it against them, unless like mentioned they are leeches ( takes about 3-4 days to notice) then boot em...

There are these things known as anxiety disorders, maybe they sit on a game all day to avoid interaction. If they participate in wars and fill requests, let 'em be.

Well there are 2 main reasons that I have come across as to why people don't talk in clan chats.

The first reason is that some people just log into clash and take the resources from their collectors and then just attack their recommended base in war with their pre-trained go-to war army then just log off. (I don't really see the fun in this as to me this seems like they're only playing clash as a chore but I'm sure they have their reasons and get their enjoyment out of it)

The second reason is that some people don't like talking with random people and really only join clans so they can still do war attacks and get troops for raiding and still get to enjoy most of the game.

Personally I find it boring to be in a clan that doesn't communicate with each other but there are others that don't really care if the clan communicates or not.

*Edit* I am not talking about people that only join so they can request troops, the reason they don't communicate is pretty self-explanatory.

Ya I haven't figured this out either.
It's not like they attack in war though. They join the clan and never req never say a word a never atk in the war. So usually we boot em at wars end. (We like to fill out our lower th lvls before we war) usually only like 5 or 6 in a 35 man war so we can cover for their missed attacks.

Also on a somewhat related note.

When we do open the clan it's like invasion of the non english speakers... in my clan we all speak english so that's a requirement. As soon as it's open its a flood of squiggles (usually a middle eastern or Indian or those pacific islands... forgive my geographical ignorance) or obviously foreign names. We usually get 8 to 10 Mohammads in 1 20 min session of open then kick the rushed slash ineligible rinse repeat until we get solid looking prospects.

Again, I don't haven't anything personal again st them it just doesn't help our clan. And it makes it very hard to find english speakers. I remember back in January or February the percentage of English speakers joining was much much higher. So I'm confused as to why this is changing.

For reference my clan is lvl 7 (in 6 hrs XD) has 119 wins and was established in august of 2014. Is that why we get such a large flood of non english speakers?

Any thoughts?
