Finally maxed my lava walls! Some advice included

Hello forumers!
I'm Anatol, a 16 years old clasher from germany :)

After about 4 months of grinding I want to let you know that I finally finished my Lv10 walls \(^_^)/ I'm a Th9 btw.
This is not about bragging (I know there are MUCH better clashers in here), I want to give some advice to the non-maxed Th9s in here :)

I mostly farmed collector bases with Barch (106 archers, 106 barbs, 4 WBs). First in Gold 1 (dropped to Silver 1 after the matchmaking update but the loot flow was over after a week or so, so I went back to G1) and later at 2100 - 2300 with C2 Loot Bonus.
The reasons I did not farm storage raids on purpose:
1. Cheaper army (+no spells needed)
2. Faster training time with Barch than e.g. with Baloonion or GiBarch
3. Higher risk: The troops' AI can sometimes mess up everything, raiding collectors is much safer (even more with poison against a surprising CC)

How crystal league is compared to Gold and Silver:

There are less collector raids and the bases you encounter are mostly high Th8s, mid Th9s and Low Th10s. In Gold you come across tons of rushed bases. So you have to rely on the loot bonus of 50k each which means that you must be able to at least 1star those bases (Th8s are easy, a maxed Th9 can be a problem for beginners). Always take the position of wizard towers and mortars into consideration since they're your worst enemy and take out all exposed buildings before starting your main attack. With some practice, you can 1star most Th9s easily :) The WBs can help when some collectors are behind the first layer of walls but the defenses are very strong on that spot. You can take 8 WBs for more safety.

I'm now moving to Th10, the only things that are not maxed are my heroes (will be 26/25 when Th upgrade finishes), my Lv1 EQ spell, my Lv1 Haste Spell, my Lv1 valks (haters gonna hate) and my Lv1 lava hounds (I'm more of a ground attacker)

Actually barch and gibarch take the same amount if time to train (within a min I believe)

However most people do not have the time to next until the find collector raids.

The fact that you are in Germany helps you with this. You get to raid during the "good loot hours" compared to us in NA. There are far less collectors during the NA raiding hours.

Tbh you should have been using bam if your only hitting collectors especially if your in the c2 range. Superior training time and at times minions can be much better than archers or barbarians for those deep collectors.

Did the first half of walls in 3 months since I was more focused on DE and the second half in 1 month. Getting up at about 11am, coming online for a raid each ~15mins until 13am when the loot gets really bad for about 2 hours. I usually play on my console at that time or spend time with my family. Then going out with friends until I return at 0am. I always started a boost at that time and went to bed when it was over.
I was able to do 4-6 walls a day without neglecting my social life that way :)

Congrats. It took me around 3 months to finish all lava walls. I used mostly BAM in Crystal 2 for the fastest loot. Barch was used here and there but when it came to farming walls, BAM was my goto army that allowed me to do up to 6 lavas in 1 day.

From my experiences if you find the right range the nexting is minimal. My th9 managed all but the last 50 lavas in about 2.5 months back before the matchmaking update, gold 2 was the place to find them back then. For strictly walls farming I agree with op that barch over gibarch is the way to go.....didn't cook a spell the entire time doing my wall run...more loot into walls.

You're kidding right? The hours when more people generally go raiding is when it gets harder to find good bases becuase more people are taking them. This is a well known fact that time of day has a decent influence on available loot.

I just completed my lavas. So plenty were done with new matchmaking. Stayed down in the gold2 area farming for them. Like targetweek said- I ran without spells for the most part.

Is there a chance you had attack logs of that time? I just don't see how its possible to find that much loot. Unless that's all you do all day maybe? Otherwise how else is that possible. Maybe you farm for 12 hrs a day that's still only 36 to 40 attacks (20 min training time right?) So 40 attacks... a generous 200k each raid. (We csn also generously assume that troop cost is supplied by win bonus) so that's 8 mil a day... a little over 5 lavas. That could make sense if you literally do nothing but farm all day and somehow also manage to not lose any on defenses.

Ya I haven't had much luck there the past few weeks so I went up to masters to get de becuase I need to do heroes constantly at this point. But getting rocked for 2.5k de is no fun so I might just go back down to gold where my de is relatively safe.

The benefit of accepting the DE tradeoff of BAM farming is that you will have SIGNIFICANTLY shorter down time than Barch.

Minions run 22.5 sec per housing space, so right in line with barbs and archers, except you're getting an additional 2 barracks to cook up those 220 troops.

20 min may be the case for cooking barch, but you can raid every 14 minutes with BAM, meaning you're fully depleting your army every time and recooking--which BAM and barchers typically don't do. At the worst you are getting 4 raids in every hour, not 3, but b/c you typically rely on collectors and just getting the 50% 1-star or TH snipe for the bonus, you're only expending 50-75% of your army. I wouldn't be surprised to see 6-7 attacks in every hour for focused BAM raiders.

That's how you really pull in the gold/elixir.

I found the time of day really does matter. Started relying on forecaster a lot. Early morning and late afternoon EST were generally best times to loot. When the numbers looked good- I boosted a camp.

Time of day has a pretty decent influence. Just like the golden hour after a maintenance event!

My Legos are done just started my lava walls put up about 20 or so far in last week. You don't get raided bad at all when you have a good base ax defense for th9 and good walls. It's awesome lol

Your farming stats are much better than mine (I think my main TH10 is like 350M/365M/1M, and my TH9 is only around 250M/230M/500k), but it's always nice to learn more efficient farming techniques than you may have gotten used to and not branched out from.

Yeah if it's only gold and elixir you're going for, you're not gonna get a much better haul per hour than using BAM.

I like to use BArch w/ 8 wallers and a cc of L7 giants fed from my other account when I'm farming in low leagues for DE and gold though. Takes a little longer in between raids, but I save DE and I can keep my elixir from overflowing when I'm running high on it. Also gives me the versatility to hit core bases as well as collectors (as I am not as fluent in the art of coring bases with BAM, although I do know that some players on this forum are skilled at it).

My experiences post matchmaking update are pretty much just hero grind and life floating as a max 9. My th10 however ranges from silver 3 to gold three now starting zaps and it amazes me how much it reminds me of what gold 2 for my 9 back the day was.

Too bad, not many people here understand how to use GiBarch/BAM.

I used GiBAM almost exclusively in TH9, and with proper troop usage, training times are 10-16min. Firstly, queue giants and wb at the end of the barrack (3 each).

While in raids, when you hit a collector raid, using giants means that you don't need to retrain them, so that becomes a default 10min retrain. Every 4 giants used increases training times by 2 min, to a max of 16min as long as no wb are used. I only use wb in a rich TH8 storage base for DE or internal collectors

This yields 4-6 raids per hr, usually 5 and allows me to easily hit 1mil per hr + decent DE.

Though my TH10 farms far faster than TH9

For the collector raids, time of day is probably the most important factor affecting in the amount of available loot.

^ This. Hit the collector bases with only the bam portion of your raid. 2 barbs per collector within the defensive range 4 archers behind it. Only 1 minion on the townhall and close app after deploying these troops / log back in to finish the battle without wasting time seeing your troops damage buildings.

Being extremely efficient with deployment is the only way to keep up if you don't boost. :D

Just as an example, I used 1 archer per collector then close the app hence was able to farm my th8 skulls in bronze extremely quickly. "surgical archers" lololol...
