My dragon is level 2 and my Pekkas are just level 1. Since they cost the same amount of elixer to upgrade I would want to know if i should upgrade dragon or pekka. I wanted to upgrade pekka since drags get useless at mid-late TH8 and i am getting there soon so i dont want to waste elixer and add more 'weight' to my base upgrading drags when i can be better off using gowipe at mid TH8. What do you guys think?
Definitely Dragons as they will be very useful in early stages of TH 8 and even later Mass drags is one of the most prominent TH 8 3 star strategies..
Drags don't get useless until TH9 and are generally a better 3 star strategy on other TH8s than GoWiPe so I would start with the dragons.
I would have done lvl 3 drags early in Th8, however you are correct in that they become less useful the more you develop. Pekkas, golems & hogs are what I would be concentrating on now.
Until Pekkas get useful it takes two levels - they start becoming good at lv3 ;)
Sooooo, for now I'd go with the dragons then you have one less thing to worry about... and it's still a viable tactic at TH8 for demolishing other TH8s.
Drags. As they are quite common CC defense troop for clan wars, having a solid lvl 3 drag and with clan perk upgraded to level 4 can be useful.
PEKKA aint bad but GoWiPe at TH8 is a rare 3-star style and almost useless for a 3-star strategy when you hit TH9.
Dragons
Don't restrict yourself by thinking about "weight", just upgrade things that are useful and that you enjoy using. There is no set pattern to upgrading in this game, would be pretty boring if everybody followed one path
gowipe with pekka lvl 2 and wiz level 5 = 3 stars every war against mid-TH8 ( cause they always have lvl 3 teslas )
i suggest to upgrade the pekka then the wizard!
also , upgrade ur pekka to lvl 3 when u get a chance and dumb all DE on the king.

dragons may 3 star TH8 they are not useful
in my clan , we don't use dragons
we 3 star with gowipe/hog lvl4 , only.
gowipe is a 3 star strategy bro , just know how to use it , also if u able to take a witch ur cc , it's definitely a 3 stars.Quote:

I agree with your point about dragons useless at mid th8. I stopped using them around that time as it was getting harder (for me) to get three stars in war. Also my defense (max ad's and teslas) has not been 3 starred in awhile against dragons. Most attacks against me have been dragons too. For me the pekka would be the one. I've been using hogs/ gowipe with much better success. And since I went to 1 golem and 4 pekks (1 in cc) I've surprisenly been 3 starring more than the 2 gowipe is know for.Quote:

I go for Dragons they are more efficient to use in wars.
No when to use it, not how to use it. Against our TH8 bases with enough segments, we get hit by GOWIPEs over and over and over and over, and unless the defenses are underpowered, never get three starred. When I maxed my TH8 defenses, I probably had at least 30 TH8 GOWIPEs hit me in wars, none of which was close to 3 stars. As a clan, we don't even think about GOWIPE and are hogs all the way, and routinely roflstomp the clans who go for the lazy two star GOWIPEs.Quote:

Besides, GoWiPe depends also on other troop levels, so unless your Golems, WBs and Wiz are all leveled, just having the PEKKA lvl2 won't immediately be of use in war.
I would do drags, when I was a top TH8 I used these startegies (number 1 being the most common one I used)
- DragRider
- Mass Drag
- GoWiPe
I stayed away from GoWiPe because it is very hard to pull of a 3 star since your army size is very limited on TH8. I only used GoWiPe when I was sure I could not 3 star the enemy base with DragRider or mass drags

I entered th8 and suddenly saw a drop in 3 stars when I was up against Th8s. Decided to unlock Gowipe and max it.
It took
27 Days (22 days for Pekka 5 for wizards)
Obviously there was an improvement in Attacking
But I gotta say 70% of the time I end up getting 2 stars using gowipe. Tried Backend Hogs worked sometimes and failed too.
If you can farm 30k DE before lab gets free I would Strongly Recommend Getting Hogs to 4 ASAP.
I regret getting Pekkas to 3 before Hogs. Hogs are still Overpowered at th8.
GoWiPe will end up vey quickly against max th8 with max Teslas. So No dragons or Pekka go for Hogs.
You Gotta upgrade PeKKa too because it will be very useful at th10.

Like everyone else has said, dragons! pekkas only lead to 2 star attacks with gowipe but I sugguest getting hogs to 4 as well.

It's a wasteful 2 star strat. You can't say you can use it to 3 star max townhall 9's or even mid 9's. You learn a crappy 2 star strat at townhall 8 and praise it because it seriously will only 3 star th8's with poor layout. I don't get 3 stared by gowipe. You'll be wasting your time doing only gowipe at townhall 8 "bro". Regardless how you use them; drags are a 3 star strat and in fact are ALWAYS a 3 star start until you hit townhall 9 where you need to be fancy (queen walk + zapp.) to 3 star.
