Why are threads closed after certain period of inactivity??

I dnt think so thread close automatic i come acroos with thread which are not closed since 2012

Threads are not closed after a certain period of inactivity. If you look, you can still reply to threads made in 2012 (this is called necroposting and is not allowed.) If someone does necro, a moderator will usually close the thread to stop it happening (unless information that is still relevant can be added.)

Some threads will be closed by moderators after they reply because they don't want people to reply more. Sometimes heated discussions which escalate into arguments are closed by moderators. Only moderators and developers can close threads, and they won't close for being inactive :)

Then what happens if a user continously search for old posts and necro all of them?? Will he get banned? ;)
